Tour to Nevis?

We are thinking of going to Nevis - can do a ship tour, but someone mentioned Thenford Grey - read a review where they got back to the ship only 1/2 hour before all onboard.  We would be more comfortable getting back an hour or more before we have to be there.  Anyone else have other suggestions or any current experience?

Thanks,

Charlene

It can be difficult to do a tour/visit to Nevis while on a cruise ship call to St Kitts. There are several ferry options as well as water taxis to get over to Nevis and return back to St Kitts but the largest issue is time and your expectations on what you can see or want to see on Nevis.

To really do justice to a visit to Nevis you may want to look into a future cruise on a smaller cruise ship that calls on Nevis as part of its itinerary. That is how I visited Nevis for the first time back in 1989 and will be returning to Nevis for a week in Dec.It will be trip number 35 or so.

We just got back from St. Kitts and Nevis. We took Grey's Island Tours to Nevis and had a wonderful time. We have toured with Thenford Grey before and he and his staff did not disappoint us. We were met every step of the way by a staff member at the terminal, at the ferry and on Nevis. The tour was great but on your way the Four Seasons have your guide stop at the Sunshine Bar and Grill to say hello to Sunshine and try one of his Killer Bees!! Our ship left at 4:00 and Grey's Island Tours had us back by 2:30. I always recommend Thenford to tour with as he treats you like an old family friend.

We also just took the Thenford Grey tour to Nevis. As Geezer2151 noted, Thenford or a staff member are with you each step of the way. Thenford met us at the cruise port. There were 16 people signed up. His daughter drove us to the ferry dock and gave us our tickets. At Nevis, our tour drivers met us at the dock and took us on a great tour. We ended at Oualie Beach, where we had enough time for a bite to eat at the beach bar and a swim. A water taxi picked us up at the dock there and took us the 2 miles to Cockleshell Beach on St Kitts, where Thenford met us and bussed us back to the ship. We had enough time to spare that Thenford was able to do a side-trip into Christopher Harbour, a new and super exclusive yacht club/resort. Even with additional short stops at various lookouts,  we arrived back at least an hour before sailaway. Super experience, well worth the time and money.
