Carnival announcement expected 13 Nov 2018 (per John Heald)

I haven't seen any chatter on this, so I thought I'd bring it up here (my apologies if this is already covered somewhere):

John Heald has mentioned on his FB page that Carnival will be making some "big" announcement on 13 November (of 2018, for those reading this in the far future.  Hello, people of the future!  Do we have flying cars yet?)

He has implied (or I have inferred) that it is something super fun, something along the lines of "they said yes".  (Actually, this is the exact thing he wrote, now that I found his post.)

"...news that I have been hoping to share with you for a couple of years now..." is in another of his posts.

Anyone have any hints as to what he is hinting at?  Sharing VIFP points across all Carnival Corp lines?  Sailings to Greenland and Iceland?  Enforced dress codes for true "formal nights" (not just "elegant night" any more), Yak rides on the Lido deck?

The Carnival beards said yes to eliminating Platinum and now you have to go from Gold to Diamond. Current Diamond guests will no longer get the free Steakhouse dinner for two but a contribution to Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital will still be made in their name.

Goodness knows my memory is faulty, at best.  It seems to me one of the last times an announcement was slated for a future date, it involved an itinerary to Cuba that was pretty much bare boned, ridiculously expensive, and short lived.

Or maybe it was the brilliant announcement of reducing platinum and gold level VIFP benefits.

Life goes on.

My guess (serious) is that is when they will finally announce the Carnival Reflection - the new XL ship coming in 2020 - as well as the dancing of the ships for 2020.  The news that he has wanted to share for a couple of years would fit with the announcement of the new XL ship.  Carnival Corp ordered those years ago.  The first one, the Aida Nova, has already been delivered (or is finishing up now), and there is one or two more already under construction for other Carnival brands.  The new Carnival brand XL ship is supposed to be the fourth one delivered.

As far as the "they said yes" comment... I'm betting that is something different entirely and not directly related to any special Carnival news.

There have been all sorts of predictions on Facebook. My guess is it will be something underwhelming like what they are adding to Panorama to replace the IMAX and Thrill Theater or he will announce his retirement to spend more time with his mother.  A lot of people on Facebook believe it will include some kind of change to the VIFP program.

Sine it was already announced probably not. BTW since the new company has nothing really to do with CCL cannot see how it could be.

My bet is they will be announcing what will be replacing the IMAX on Panorama.

Don't put too much stock in this but, my co-workers's collage friend's sister is dating a guy who's mother's Pastor's fitness trainer said the Panorama will feature the first Whirly Ball at sea!!

What is Whierly Ball you ask?? Well its best described as "a combination of lacrosse, hockey, basketball, and bumper cars". Google it!

Just imagine if it were true(its not), its just as fun to watch as it is to play.

Here's what I'm hoping for. The balcony doors will all be equipped with sensors that will record each time someone allows their balcony door to slam shut. The first time it happens, the occupant(s) will receive a letter asking that they kindly not allow this to happen. After the second offense, they will receive a letter stating that if this occurs one more time, the balcony door will be automatically locked, and that they will not have access to their balcony for the duration of the cruise, and that there will be NO compensation (financially or otherwise) for this. In addition, there will be a call button on the balcony to contact Security that someone has been locked out on their balcony.

My guess it is a change in tier plans!  Why? Why not!

Would not be surprised to see a new upper level Tier and some sort of timeframe to maintain a tier, not unlike <insert name here> Loyalty Program.

That's how Airlines, Hotels and Casinos work (for the most part - please don't throttle me with all of the exceptions). Unless you are a "Million Miler" at Delta, it's all about what have you done for me lately and your Tier for next year is based on what you did this year.
