Best parking plan for NOLA with wheelchair

We are trying to decide whether to book a hotel with parking/shuttle, or just park at the terminal. Since we are coming in from OOT, we will need a hotel either way. The wheelchair complicates the situation. We’ve had horrible luck with taxi’s and some shuttles in the past due to lack of accessibility. Are we better off just paying the cost of port parking due to convenience?

It depends on the cruise line you are on. If it is Carnival they have great parking at the port and I would advise that as the easiest and best with a wheelchair.

 

If you  are on Norwegian or Royal Caribbean they have a different lot which is not as accessible.

We are cruising on Carnival, and we have decided to take your suggestion. We are willing to pay more for convenience. How does the garage work as far as luggage goes? Do you drop your luggage and then park, or park and take luggage in with you?

Someone else will probably tell you if it has changed but when we were there several years ago, you just drove in and the men were there to take your luggage.  They you drove up into the parking garage.  They will tell you where to go for handicap parking.

Under the circumstances I'd definitely do port parking. Porters will take your luggage and elevators will take you right into the port.
