dubroben22 Posted November 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 13, 2018 Hi All I will be going in May 2019 on my first cruise with Carnival. 6 people in 2 cabins can I buy 200 shares of Carnival stock and receive 2 credits (1 per each stateroom - I am paying for all 6 people)
Nic6318 Posted November 13, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 13, 2018 Hi A person in each cabin needs to own 100 or more shares (in their name). So, the answer would be, no. You would get the credit for the cabin you are booked in.

Although, Carnival is still a very good company which does well in the market and pays dividends. I bought it for $30 a long time ago and keep on investing within my IRA. dubroben22 Posted November 14, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted November 14, 2018 my cruise is 14 days so I will get 250 obc per stateroom and it is not spending but investing

When he purchased his shares for $30, there were people on this site that were saying they wouldn't buy Carnival shares even if it fell back to $15. The odds of being wrong are always possible when you make an investment, but if you like and use the product, you are starting from a better position. So even Coevan's investment has doubled in value, with 3%+ dividends for all those years, and you can add whatever after tax monies from the OBC. Mine add up to more than what I paid for the shares, all by themselves. I can't imagine too many shareholders complaining. 1

riffatsea Posted November 14, 2018 #7 Share Posted November 14, 2018 IF you want to be extra nice to the folks going on the cruise with you then buy THEM 100 shares of Carnival stock and they will receive the OBC.
clearwatergirl Posted November 14, 2018 #8 Share Posted November 14, 2018 Found out after booking a cruise, shareholder OBC will be given to only one person per cabin. So, if there are two of you, only one of you will receive the credit. I find this extremely unfair!
GMRPHRN Posted November 14, 2018 #9 Share Posted November 14, 2018 Wouldn't it just make better sense to spend $100 in cruise cash or put $100 on each cabin for spending? But it's still a good investment if you cruise with CCL frequently and the stock continues to do well.

The point is to reward the person for investing in the company. Should they also pay out a dividend to the roommate as well?

clearwatergirl Posted November 15, 2018 #13 Share Posted November 15, 2018 Correct, if two or more shareholders are in the same cabin, only one receives the benefit. Why? I have just as many shares as my cabin mate. Why can't we both be rewarded for our investment. Yet another perk being taken away. I realize this situation is different from the OP but I thought I'd share my experience as it was somewhat related.

So, my wife and I have a joint Fidelity account with 200 shares, I was not expecting 2 benefits. The rules are very clear and we find it a very generous perk.

My husband and I jointly own 100 shares of CCL stock. When we sail with friends, we book our friend and me in one cabin and the friend's husband and my husband in another cabin. Since we have different booking numbers, we submit two shareholder benefit requests. My husband and I each receive the obc. According to the info below, we are well within policy to book this way. From the Shareholder Benefit link: This benefit is available to shareholders holding a minimum of 100 shares of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc. Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer. This benefit is not transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash and, cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account. Only one onboard credit per shareholder-occupied stateroom.

The reason you both can't get the full OBC is because that is not what is being offered. That is also why it is not a perk being taken away...it was never offered. I don't really understand your confusion. If you want to receive the same OBC benefit as your roommate, then you need to share. hope this helps
Deltron Posted December 14, 2018 #21 Share Posted December 14, 2018 You can book a cabin with you in one cabin and wife in 2nd cabin. Then each of you can get a A stock credit by turning in the stock information separately for each room. Once you get on board you can move the person from one room to the other guest services. The credit will follow that person. I know this to be a fact because we just did it and it worked great.
