Island Princess- Promenade deck Panama Canal

Hi all. I am in process of booking a Canal cruise on Island Princess . I have read in a few place that the balconies on Promenade/Deck 7 are not accessible while transiting the Canal. Is this true? It so, are you barred from using them the entire transit, or just for a short period of time?

Only restricted during the transit through the canal.

During our cruise it was for the entire transit, we had friends in those cabins.

They have the mule cables in the vicinity.

In the past they have given a day pass for the sanctuary or OBC for compensation. Not much but some. ($60)?

We went through the canal on Island last month. The folks we ate dinner with had that situation. They were told that they could not be in their cabin/balcony during the transit, but the Sanctuary would be free during that time.

When they returned to their cabin, someone had been there and left an empty cola can on their balcony. They were extremely irritated.
