Headliner Entertainment on longer cruises?

Last 3 CCL cruises have all been 4 day ones and the only shows in theater were by production crew, so they are the song/dance type.  No fly in Headliner acts.  Does Carnival do this on longer cruises?  Have an 8 day booked and hoping for some entertainment headliners or something beyond production crew and comedy club; even a throwback to crew talent shows would be good.  What's the entertainment like for a longer cruise?  Friends recently did 7 day on magic and said 2 nights nothing at all in theater and other nights were production only.  Wondering if they missed info on a Headliner??

We had a magician as a Headliner on Triumph in March 2017 on a 5 night.  However, he was accompanied by the regular crew dancers so I am not sure whether all passengers would have realized they were seeing a headliner specific to that sailing as opposed to the standard entertainment.  This past January we also did a 4 night cruise on Carnival and there was no Headliner.  Which ship?

It's an 8 night to Bermuda on Carnival Magic.   There are 4 sea days, 3 evenings at sea, and 1 overnight in port.  Production Shows/Comedy won't really cut it.  On the Victory they had a live show band and the cruise director said they are one of the last ships in fleet to still have that.  We do not use casino at all, so that's not a source of evening entertainment for us.

The 8 day cruises we have been on had main shows of:

Night 1 - Welcome Aboard

4 additional Nights - Playlist shows

1 night - solo entertainer, typically magician/illusionist, etc

1 night - Love and Marriage show (possible preceded by Hasbro)

1 night - Lip Sync Battle

The 7 day used to have the solo entertainer (this was pre-Lip Sync battle), now I think that the LSB replaces the solo entertainer on the 7 day, at least that seems to be the case on current Fun Times that I've seen.

If you are looking for more/better entertainment, you would likely be happier cruising on RCCL.

I agree with you that the production shows do nothing for me. The comedy is a big deal for me. If that went away, I'd have a real problem.

Without a doubt … for us, that is the biggest thing RCCL over Carnival.  The entertainment on MSC Seaside was the best we have seen.

Just looking for decent variety and not ALL sing/dance and comedy (young child so the comedy would only work if he is in kids club).  Have RC cruise booked next.  Yes, will get diving show and broadway play.  Not saying Carnival has to offer that, just some variety.  If there is magic, juggler, contest one night mixed in that's probably okay.

does anyone have any ideas of how many movies at night by the pool they would have on an 8 night cruise?  That could be good too.

I expect one or two nights might be duds, and that's okay, I just don't want 4 nights sing/dance and 4 nights "nothing"

Will be on Seaside in 2 weeks; have been on Divina twice.  Looking forward to the shows on Seaside.  Even though MSC shows tend to be a bit song/dance because of varied languages on board, they mix in acrobats and magic and visually it is thrilling.  Excited for this one

We here in Australia have our cruises on average for 9 days. We normally get 4 Carnival only stage shows, Welcoming/Love & Marriage, Hasbro. Then at least 3 other's. these could be Magicians, hypnotists, Impersonators or entertainers.... Last cruise we had a GREAT Freddie Mercury Impersonator... Brilliant. We also get 4 or 6 different comedians over this time...

Ok my experience is there is more variety on longer cruises as far as the shows go,  there are some good ones hear and there that i enjoyed.  And there is the early family friendly comedy club act.   They have mostly done away with the live orchestra. And fly ins are not common anymore.  Sometimes a special music group or a magician.  I really have pulled back from going to it often. Will usually go listen to one of the groups playing all over the ship.  Some are really good.
