New Amex Offer

I booked on Sept 13 for a Feb 2019 Crown Princess cruise. Saw the OP and went to my AMEX account. I did not find the offer...then used the "back door" that was posted here and found it. I redeemed the offer, then went on princess website, bought $500 OBC on Nov 24. $100 credit was posted sometime yesterday (late, it wasn't there by 9 p.m.) This will be a good start on purchasing the beverage package once on board. Thanks all!

Thanks-that's what I did--but sure appreciate you posting--maybe others can get it.

Hey--I tried this one more time and it now shows up 🙂

Thanks for posting.

For others not seeing it, try this a few times.

Thanks for the link on the backdoor offer, I initially didn't have it. I used it for some casino credits for a trip that I had previously booked. It doesn't fall into the parameters of the dates to be booked between but I believe others have had the same issue and received the credit. I'll wait and see what happens, hopefully, it will be accepted.

Brad

Thanks for the heads up and the backdoor link. I purchased $500 in casino credits on 11/26 for a cruise I booked 8/31 and the credit showed up on my statement today.

FYI....I just looked at my A/E card account & noticed my $500 payment for my cruise on the Majestic Cruise in March & saw the $500 charge but no $100 statement credit. It was on my Blue Sky card. This prompted a call to A/E where the agent contacted the promotion department & reported back that I did qualify for the promotion. He was told that I would get the credit within 90 days but he got them to agree to post the credit within 2 weeks. This is the 4th time that I have used this credit for my current cruise.

This is means that I have received over $400 in statement credit. If you used this offer & made a payment please check your account to make sure that you receive the credit.

Tom😀

My husband and I booked a 2019 Alaskan cruise a few months ago and have been hoping at some point to find a promotional Princess credit through Delta's Am Ex card--but it seems like they're rare.  So we were thrilled to read about this on Cruise Critic!

We technically have one Delta AM EX account---but each of us has our own Am Ex credit card number (different five-digit suffixes).  I logged into both of our Delta Am Ex sites, and I found the offer for World's Leading Cruise Lines ONLY on mine.  So I accepted the offer, and it was added to my card profile.

Then I logged into the Princess website and purchased some of the items in my cart (soda packages, bottled water, photo package) and added in enough OBC to go over the $500 mark . . . enough for the credit to be activated.  Or so I thought.  Turns out that on the Princess website, I had to enter the exact name and address of the main AM EX account holder--which is my husband.  And wouldn't you know it . . . because he didn't have the Princess benefit specifically listed on his benefits page, my $500 purchase did not trigger the $100 credit.  ARGH!!!!

So then I tried a different approach.  I sent an email this morning to my AAA travel agent.  She applied a $500 Am Ex payment to my existing Alaska reservation . . . and BAM!  Within an hour, I'd received the email from American Express that if my purchase meets the offer terms (which it should), I had successfully redeemed the offer.  I'm not sure how long it will take for it to appear on my online AM EX statement, but I'll keep looking for it over the next few days and will update this post at that time.

It's unfortunate that I had to put forth a little more cash towards my Alaska cruise balance right before Christmas . . . but I'm so excited to receive the $100 credit!

11/29/18 UPDATE:  $100 credit on Delta Am arrived with 48 hours of my $500 charge.  Sweet!!

My cabin charge was $680 when we departed Sunday.   I signed up for the offer before that and my credit still is not showing.  Guess a call to AMEX is in order for tomorrow.

A) When Princess made the charge did you get a message from AMEX that the offer was used? If so, then allow several days after the charge was made to see the rebate.

B) If you did not get the message that the offer was used, it may be that the offer is not good for on board expenses.

No, I did not get a message from AMEX that the offer was used.  How would they know the money went for on board expenses or for a payment on the cruise?                 It is a busy day but I will find time to call AMEX

Princess may code the transaction differently and the AMEX computers will go by the transaction code.

On previous offers from Amex, I had gotten it on twice (me & husband) on three different cards and was able to use it 6 times on one cruise for a total of $600 off.  This time when I applied it to one of my cards it did not appear on the other cards.  Then Amazon ran a special and he got another Amex card from them.  So I went to look for the offer and it was there but when I tried to add it to the card it said we already have this offer on another card and it dissappeared.  They sure became very vigilant.

I read an article that American Express was even going back to try to retrieve the credit they gave to those that have used this offer across multiple cards.  So, yes, they have become very vigilant with their so called misuse of these offers.  (I'm not saying you were doing anything wrong ... Amex is, though).
