Does  Manzanillo take American dollars?

Some might, some not. Depends on the owner of the shop or restaurant. Exchange rate in general will not be great. Pesos will be best.

IF you use USA dollars change will be in pesos.

You can use your credit card for large purchases in many places.

Prices in pesos shown in stores have the same $sign that we use so don't get confused.

Many restaurants will also take credit cards for lunch or drinks.

We only use pesos in Manzanillo.  Had the best shrimp cocktail (70pesos) at one of the restaurants in the mercado area.  The mercado area is located behind the huge hill behind the government building across from port.
