rkacruiser Posted December 18, 2018 #1103 Share Posted December 18, 2018 Many thanks to all who are on the Maiden Voyage who have posted commentary and photos. All you have done is to make me more eager than ever to embark Nieuw Statendam on January 6th! Best wishes for a safe, pleasant trip to your home and a Merry Christmas as well as a Happy and Healthy New Year!
bennybear Posted December 18, 2018 #1104 Share Posted December 18, 2018 Thank you to all that posted! I really enjoyed reading of your great adventures. Now I have added an inaugural sailing to the bucket list! I need a bigger bucket! Agree about spending at least a week prior will help with the jet lag. I have heard it takes a day to recover from every hour of jet lag and that seems to be pretty accurate for me. That way you get a land adventure too! When I looked at the new beverage lists posted I did not see Nicholas Feuillate champagne. On my last HAL cruise last year it was included in the Elite Package and we really enjoyed having a glass of champagne (admittedly almost daily!!!!). From the list posted I only see Veuve Cliquot which, although delicious and superior to Feuillate, is priced at $18 and therefore not included in the package. Is Nicholas Feuillate still offered as a champagne and is it still priced within the $15 limit? Keeping my fingers crossed that Nieuw Statendam will have a decent champagne that falls within the Elite package. Have a safe trip home everyone and to those staying on continue to enjoy the short 4 night cruise. Nicholas Feuillate is on board and is $12.50 a glass, according to our wine steward.

Very kind and helpful of you to reply to the question when you have to get ready to disembark. I hope you have a good night's sleep and disembarkation goes smoothly. Our best to you both & Sherita 🙂

Thank you so much for clarifying this for me. So, Elite package it must be for me this weekend!!! It has not gone unnoticed that you have answered mine and others questions up till the very last minute. Very kind and I am very grateful. It has helped me immensely and it has also been a pleasure to follow along. I am only sad that you are not staying on so I can thank you in person. Have a safe trip home. Only one show, and it was packed. Gyoza Satay Scallops Vegetable tempura (I think) Mongolian lamb chops chicken curry 3

scluvsrain Posted December 19, 2018 #1123 Share Posted December 19, 2018 We are docked! It’s still dark. It it’s nice to see lights of the city after seeing nothing but water for 8 days! its been great fun to post on this journey of the Nieuw Statendam for her inaugural sailing. The ship is indeed very beautiful and rides like a dream, although we had fabulous weather and very calm seas overall. I am disembarking today to fly home to California. January 2 I will be back here to board the Prinsendam for her 80-day Grand South America and Antarctica voyage. Looking to spend a wonderful Christmas with my family before leaving them for three months again! Thanks Ann, for being a great thread partner and thanks to everyone for coming along with us on our thread!! 3
scluvsrain Posted December 19, 2018 #1124 Share Posted December 19, 2018 Someone asked Tim if there is a chime man on board playing the little musical instrument to announce dinner, like on the other HAL ships. There is not!!! ☹️☹️☹️☹️
