The Last Straw

Leaving for the airport in a few minutes. Grabbed a handful of Subway straws out of the center console of my car. The paper straws we were given on our last cruise were terrible! Like sucking air.

Options!!! 😀

They do have plastic straws. All you have to do is ask.

They just count on most people not asking for them after they drinks arrive.

Silly me. Just didn't know enough to ask for the plastic variety. When I asked for a straw and got one of the accursed paper variety, I figured that's as good as it was gonna get.

Thanks!!

Are you saying that on a Princess ship they actually gave you a paper straw??

Do you have a Costco Business Center near you?  You can get a box of 3000 wrapped straws for approximately $10.  At Christmas with my friends I felt like Oprah because I brought my box of straws in and I was like and you get some straws and you get some straws 😂

LOLOL  Dying laughing!  I may just have to rain some straws down on people too.  So generous!  :classic_biggrin:

That is pretty ingenious! LOL   I think I will get one of those for my purse for back home!  I hate it when the restaurants give me those paper straws!  I carry straws in my purse, but this would get them clean and keep them from breaking.

This may lead to a new item to be smuggled on board someday. 😁

In SFO now getting ready to Lyft to Pier 27. Stopped into  McD for a coke. What did I find? PLASTIC straws!!! OMG😳😳

Someone will surely go to jail for this nearly capital infraction.

People from CA are definitely a different breed. Nothing that they do surprises me any more, no matter how crazy it is.

Anybody think about why we are changing back to recyclable paper straws.  How long does it take for plastic to break down and how much of it ends up in the oceans we love to cruise,

Same fuss when Princess stopped using plastic spoons for tea/coffee and replaced them with wooden stirrers.

I don’t mind using a paper straw; I just need one due to sensitivity.  I totally understand why we need to go back to using paper straws here in California. A lot of our street drains flow into the ocean so if there are any plastic straws in the street they end up in the sea.  Changes definitely need to be made.
