stleda124 Posted December 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2018 We cruising on Harmony of the Seas on January 6th out of FLL! I just booked it today and flights are pretty limited. Should I be okay booking a 10:55 am flight at FLL airport that morning? Thanks in advance!
CruiserBruce Posted December 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2018 If you look on the Florida Departures board, here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/386-florida-departures/ where this is discussed daily, you will find you can make a 10:55 flight. Krazy Kruizers Posted December 8, 2018 #3 Share Posted December 8, 2018 You should not having problems making a flight at that time. Do self disembarkation -- carry all your own luggage off the ship -- first passengers to leave the ship -- grab a taxi. It is a short ride to the air port. Nic6318 Posted December 8, 2018 #4 Share Posted December 8, 2018 Hi It's one of those easy answers. Of course you can make it, unless there is a problem. Those darn problems, you never know. If there is a delay, you could miss your flight. hope this helps
stleda124 Posted December 8, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted December 8, 2018 Thank you! I am having a tough time with this new cruise critic set up for sure.
wheezedr Posted December 8, 2018 #6 Share Posted December 8, 2018 I easily made a 10:10AM. A couple of variables. What time does your ship show as landing and where is it’s last previous port. Also we did self carry off and were in the first or second group to debark.

Not altogether clear what you are asking - if you are sailing on the 6th, your flight home will be on the 13th. You should make 10:55 flight, but anything before noon, even from an airport that close to the port, is a bit risky. There will be 6 ships dropping off about 20,000 passengers that morning, so the airport will be a zoo. When you say “...10:55 am flight AT FLL airport THAT morning”, after talking about cruising on January 6 —- you could also be talking about a flight arriving at that time on January 6 for your cruise that date. Touché! Wasn’t clear at all! Yes I meant on the 13th we are thinking of the 1055 flight as the next flight out that makes sense is 810...
Reina del Mar Posted December 10, 2018 #9 Share Posted December 10, 2018 We reached our gate by 9.30 am for an international flight from FLL. We had made no attempt to rush, as our flight didn't leave till 1 PM. We just accepted the disembarkation group allocated, collected bags in the shed, went through immigration and went to taxi rank..no problem, However...not sure I would want to feel that pressure of having to be there that early. If you have a flight ticket you can change to later time if necessary, and the ship arrives on time you should be fine!
Sue Do-Over Posted December 19, 2018 #10 Share Posted December 19, 2018 We have made 10:05am flights from FLL. Yes, it was risky, and not for the faint of heart. We packed carry-on only, have Global Entry (essentially the upgrade of TSA Pre-Check) and are ready to go the minute they open the gangway. While we weren't trying to evade being caged in the dining room with the other walk-offs, we ended up conveniently in the lobby when the first guests debarked from the platinum lounge. We were SO speedy, in fact, that we reached the Customs counter before they opened, and waited there for 10 minutes or so. The Global Entry card, in that case, didn't save us any time -- we were already #4 & 5 in line. Taxi to the airport, straight to Pre-Check, and were at the departure gate by 9am sharp. So, it's doable... but all the cards have to play your way.
angie7911922 Posted December 23, 2018 #11 Share Posted December 23, 2018 Also, on some ships, they will make sure you first off the ship if you have an earlier flight. Check with your ship so you can be first off!
