Thanks Easy way, taxis at the pier. Fare about $25 each way. Nice swimming if the sand in sea is not churned up. Beautiful views. Not developed. Beds and umberella $10.00 but quality not great (Old) Small single changing room. Simple beach bar. Generous pours of local Rum. Plenty of taxis for return. Outward taxi will return for you.
sunsetme Posted March 2, 2020 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2020 went to mero beach yesterday by taxi, we had to wait to fill up which was a pain. Beach was very pleasant, not crowded, reasonable price for chairs, water was clear and lovely sand was hot, bring sand shoes.
stunned Posted July 2, 2021 #4 Share Posted July 2, 2021 If the taxi driver takes and picks you up from port to Mero beach and back - Is the taxi rate round trip or each way?

Private taxi (not shared) was about $25.00 e/w Your outward taxi will collect at the time you request. Additional On last visit our driver said there are discussions about ending “round trip - pay in return” as some unscrupulous people took a private taxi to the beach, agreeing to pay for a round trip on return leg. Then take a cheap shared minibus back to the ship earlier than collect time agreed with the driver. Cheap day out? Thank you for the info.

To all visitors Please spend a few extra dollars at the beach bars and restaurants, it is so needed and will be greatly appreciated along with a tip of a couple of dollars.

Can I ask if there are decent restrooms at the beach bar, we will likely have a couple of drinks and buy something simple to eat, if available and the bar looks OK? A number of years ago the public (beach) toilets were acceptable, but the bars were much cleaner and would value one’s custom. The public ones may have been upgraded since.

We regularly do eat in cruise ports and happy to give the poorer areas the business, but Caribbean can be a bit hit and miss regards food safety, so a bit more wary there. Okay, have a friend who gave this piece of Caribbean advice. If in doubt about food and wish to still spread a few dollars. Buy beer and rum, then tip well. It works! The enormous smiles of recipients are heart warming. What goes around….. 1

So true about many places. We have not travelled much in the Caribbean, but we have in Africa and the Far East and the people are lovely.
Cherries Jubilee Posted November 2, 2023 #15 Share Posted November 2, 2023 Private taxi was telling us $25 per person round trip today. I’m wondering if prices changed or they are cheating us?
