Carnival Cruise - Day in Mahogany Bay with 2 year old!?

Toddler friendly shore excursions or activity recommendations in Mahogany Bay for the day for myself, husband and our 2 year old son?!

We're traveling on the Carnival Vista in January.

Unless you do a ship excursion, best to hang at Mahogany Bay.  Beach right there.

To access the transportation for a private excursion, you need to walk up the embankment from the pier to the exit from the shopping complex and then over the "hill" to outside the main gate for the port.

That said, either a Rony Tour or Victor Bodden tour to see the sloths and monkeys and then some time on a West Bay beach would be good excursions to consider.

Information is on these boards.  But you can google and find their websites and pricing and make reservations.

Still rainy season in January and it's a walk to meet private tour operators.  If it were me I'd stick to a beach day there with a toddler. The roads can be slow etc on a dreary day -- like today when it's low 70s, cloudy and a breeze so even a bit chilly to the locals, and the activities on tour are outside.

Stay in port.  Mahogany Bay has a nice beach area with free chairs, then a nice shopping area to walk around.  You don't need to do an excursion, and you can go back on the ship anytime you want, as many times as you want all day.  Its an easy port.

google Mahogany Bay Roatan and you can get a nice map of the port on their website.

  • 2 weeks later...

We were just here last week. It is a hike to the beach, but very doable.  The beach has free chairs, a small playground area, corn hole, volleyball, restrooms, and the ability to purchase food and drinks if you wish.  We took our 3 & 5 year old to the beach and spent half the day.  We did buy a coconut for $5 and they drank it and than paid $1 to open it up and sugar it.  So for $6 we had a nice day. 🙂

We had CHEERS and brought a few bottles of water and Powerade with us, unopened, in case they got thirsty.  They had a blast.  Easy excursion day. 🙂
