Rare misguy Posted December 20, 2018 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2018 Has anyone ever been on one of the Breakaway class ships and tried to get a wheelchair into a spa balcony cabin. We are in a HC interior, but would like the balcony and spa access but it doesn't work if we can't get the wheelchair in and still be able to move in the cabin. GoneJohnson Posted December 30, 2018 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2018 I have traveled both Princess and HAL and was told the same thing from both. I am in a wheelchair and through Panamal Canel thought about getting myself a big big fancy sutie.... but was told all cabin doors were 22 inch unless marked handcapped. Ask about door width whom your trveling.
spookwife Posted December 30, 2018 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2018 I assume you mean a motorized chair that does not collapse? or that the person using it is unable to stand/walk the couple of feet in or out . my every day chair collapses into a nice small /flat size and I stash it easily in the cabin. Rare misguy Posted December 30, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted December 30, 2018 The chair collapses, but I was concerned about an area to stow it in the cabin. On our last cruise several years back, they upgraded us to a better inside from an HC and there wasn't any room for the chair in the cabin. They upgraded us again to a balcony and that had enough space. I just wasn't sure about the Spa balcony cabins since the square footage seems smaller than some of the other cabins. spookwife Posted December 31, 2018 #5 Share Posted December 31, 2018 all other things failing, there's always the balcony to store although I'd find some sort of protective baggy or cover to keep the salt water at bay. usually plain insides are the most tiny and space restrictive, but even just an Oceanview can be configured to have enough space to store it plus still get around.. I wold hazard a guess that a Spa Balcony would be more than enough space. you can always look at the floor plan from the website
