Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted January 12, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2019 (edited) Hello, In the past three years we been on Oasis class ships and had one Oceanview balcony and 4 cruises with JS staterooms...while the JS was very nice, we really never use the balcony and I don't care for the tub being high. Most of the time we take my elderly father in law who cannot get into that tub. We recently booked the Harmony for October and decided since in the morning when I am getting dressed my other half and father in law would sit in Central Park and relax and wait for me to come down then go for breakfast. I thought about all the negatives there are having Central Park balcony (people can see in your room, air is stagnant and it be warmer, balcony be smaller) but I see it a positive they can sit on the balcony every morning and not have to go down and find a seat/table. With this being said I just have a few questions: 1- Where would our muster station be, we have cabins 11235 and 11237? 2- I believe we do get a complimentary lunch, can anybody confirm where and if we get any other perks having this room? 3- Does anybody have any cons to having this type room? You get a complimentary lunch for two at Jamie's, Sabor, or Jonny Rocket's. Never had that kind of room so cannot tell you cons or muster station, sorry. Starry Eyes Posted January 12, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2019 (edited) Additional perks are a bottle of red wine in stateroom and a casino gaming lesson (we have never bothered with the lesson). You might also enjoy sitting on the balcony listing to musicians play in Central Park in the evening. Or enjoy the people watching from the balcony. Or if you are the last one up in the morning, you can wave to family members who still choose to sit in Central Park; maybe they will bring you a cup or coffee from Park Cafe like my DH did for me. Other cons: I suppose light sleepers could could hear some noise from the Park, though it is not a super noisy location. Not certain where your muster will be, but perhaps in Royal Promenade. Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted January 12, 2019 Author #6 Share Posted January 12, 2019 What type of noise could we hear from the Park late at night? We have deck 11.
vettprincess Posted January 12, 2019 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2019 (edited) We have had three central park balcony cabins on the Oasis, Allure, Harmony and in Nov on the Symphony. No cons and hear no noise from the park. Lots to see: the people walking, the entertainment characters that pose for photos, waving to relatives walking by, free bottle of wine and lunch (did not do the gamble lesson). Check out the weather. Definite privacy from across the away, had breakfast on the balcony a few times. All the plants and trees-I have taken garden tours-I am a gardener in MN. All the greenery-we come from a state where about 4-5 months of green and the rest is brown and white. Sorry can't remember where muster station is located. Also, better to get one of these cabins on deck 11 or 12 and closer to an elevator for your family. No noise late at night. Can't think of anything else now. Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted January 12, 2019 Author #8 Share Posted January 12, 2019 Great to hear, we are only 10 cabins from the aft elevator.
Ken at the beach Posted January 12, 2019 #9 Share Posted January 12, 2019 (edited) We were almost directly across from your cabin and our muster station was in the champagne bar on the Promenade. I’m guessing that yours will be on the Promenade as part of the E series muster stations Edited January 12, 2019 by Ourusualbeach

gatour Posted January 12, 2019 #18 Share Posted January 12, 2019 For Oasis class ships on Central Park, I prefer deck eleven. Hower deck ten or twelve are my back ups. Also I like to book closer to the aft than forward. Better chance for a breeze (a matter of aerodynamics) Noise wasn't an issue, on any of the three decks mentioned above. Perhaps if you are on the balcony on a deck twelve cabin in the afternoon you might hear some noise from the pool deck but it wasn't too obtrusive. At night, I liked to sit out on the balcony with a glass of wine just before going to bed and listening to the duet in Central Park. When ready for bed, we didn't the hear duet, if they were still playing, when we closed the door to the balcony.
ShipsandDipper Posted January 12, 2019 #19 Share Posted January 12, 2019 I would have agreed about hearing little noise after sailing on Oasis last year, but not on our current Harmony sailing. The live music from the pool deck has been super loud, even with the balcony door closed. Room on 10 forward. Live music from Central Park at night has been pleasant. Norwich Cruiser Posted January 12, 2019 #20 Share Posted January 12, 2019 We’ve twice had Central Park balconies decks ten and eleven loved them both and thought they were excellent value with no noise issues at all.

You can also make arrangements for your elderly father to muster in the Special Needs area, so he can sit. This is possible for ALL muster stations, as even the ones with seating can be crowded with Standing Room Only.
Rare brillohead Posted January 13, 2019 #22 Share Posted January 13, 2019 And I've done CP balconies a few times on Oasis and Harmony... I don't use the balcony much, but it's usually cheaper than my typical inside room. Never had any problems with noise at night, and just close the curtains for getting dressed / privacy. misty57 Posted January 13, 2019 #23 Share Posted January 13, 2019 We've booked .Central Park balcony staterooms for the past several years. Our muster station was right by guest services. Get there early and you can find cushioned seating. Wait until, the crowd disperses before leaving.
Grandma Petania Posted January 13, 2019 #24 Share Posted January 13, 2019 Central Park balcony cabins are our favorite! (My adult daughter and me.) All of ours, on all four Oasis Class ships have been on Deck 10. We prefer that deck for people-watching, and being farther away from noise from pool deck. Starry Eyes Posted January 13, 2019 #25 Share Posted January 13, 2019 Some of door seals in CP and BW cabins are better than others. So in some cabins, one may hear some of the music or background noise in the cabin. It would never be rough to bother me, but different people have different sensitivities. Especially deck 14 you can get noise from pool deck, potentially sounds from early morning deck chair shuffling/cleaning right above you. we have enjoyed CP balconies and would happily book them again
