Can I get off on the second to last day of my cruise at one of the ports?

Just wondering if royal Caribbean allows guests to extend their stay at a port? If so, what is the process of this.

 

its a 7 night cruise and on second to last day we’d like to extend our stay at the island and stay at a resort for a few days then fly directly home.

If it is a closed loop cruise from the US...no, not without a large fine.  At least $300 per person.  If it is a European cruise, it is possible with advance notice.

If you would be starting OR ending the cruise in a non-US country,  then it's legal.  You just have to arrange with the cruise line in advance, and there may be a processing fee.

That fine only applies if they disembark at another US port.

What is the second to last port?

It’s in the Caribbean. Not sure which one because we debating between 2 cruises right now

There may still be a fee, as the cruise line will need to arrange for immigration and customs officers be at the dock to process the entry.

 

And you will need a passport.

Well, Puerto Rico and St. Thomas are in the Caribbean and are US ports.  Even though the PVSA law exempts these ports, I'm not at all sure that the cruise line knows that, and so they may deny your leaving the ship at those ports.
