JojoJane Posted January 19, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2019 Can anyone advise me on what to take on a European Waterways hotel barge trip in Provence at the end of October? Not sure how dressy I need to be or how warm the clothing needs to be. I know there is not a lot of room in the cabin on a hotel barge and travelling by train to get to the barge means I don't want too heavy a suitcase (which may also be a problem when it comes to storage on the barge once unpacked). I know it's a long way away but I want to get my head round it and start planning clothing for me and my husband before I start to pack our autumn/winter clothes away for the spring/summer in England. All help would be gratefully received!
Rare Lois R Posted February 8, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2019 Hi, I was looking at their cruises! I didn't book one (yet) but they look pretty awesome....small vessels and it looks very casual to me. Maybe you could email them. I would suggest Oct in France to bring layers. I really don't think you will need dressy clothes.
Narrow boat girl Posted March 6, 2019 #3 Share Posted March 6, 2019 Hi We have a Narrowboat in England not quite the same as the vessel you will be traveling on, but I think you will find it will be mostly casual.Clothes are very casual on the waterways , I would suggest a waterproof jacket and layers, very comfy shoes, and a wide brimmed hat - keeps both sun and rain off, would suggest using a hold all for clothes as these can be folded flatter than a suitcase. For evening I usually take one pair of smart jeans/ trousers and a couple of smart casual tops. Hope this helps and you enjoy it
