Mini suite and club class - perks and tips please

Recommended Posts

Club Class Mini Suite question - do you request your canapes or do they magically appear? And the wines they give you, can you ask for no chardonnay or it's whatever they give you? Not sure if this is available to do on check in or something?

Thanks!

A little card will be left in your cabin for the your canapes selections ... check what you want and leave it for your cabin steward the night before. You can change your selections each time if you wish.

Two small bottles of wine will be in your CC mini-suite -- one white and one red ... no choice for you.

Hope you will enjoy CC Dining as much as will have.

A door hang tag will be left in the evening by Stewart.

I don’t like red wine so called room service and they changed it to white on our last CC mini suite cruise.

We booked the Club Class mini suite because our friends, whom we were traveling with, had already booked that and we didn't want them to feel like they couldn't take advantage of the added perks that come with Club Class just to hang with us.  Now they have gone and cancelled.  What would happen if we wanted to down grade our cabin to a regular mini suite or even a balcony cabin?  Is there any penalty or negative repercussion?

I can’t see any reason why you can’t downsize. Just contact your TA or whom ever you booked the cruise with and tell them what you would like to do.

As far as dietary restrictions go, we understand that. They aren't that dire, but we just figure it will be a more tranquil environment and we'll hopefully get the same servers the entire time we're on the cruise if we come early every day.

I really enjoyed Club Class dining. You may not get the same servers every night, but you will get some of the same small group, so they will all get to know you.

However, I don't think having the same servers is import for handling dietary restrictions. On Princess, the waiters do not handle dietary restrictions - the head waiters do. If you have dietary restrictions, your head waiter will come to your table each evening to take you order for dinner the next day (and for lunch if it's a sea day). He will know exactly which items work with your dietary restrictions, He will also know which items that normally would not fit your restrictions can be modified to fit them. By ordering a day in advance, they will make the changes, and they will prepare the food separately to avoid any cross contamination in foods where that is an issue. The head waiter in Club Class does not have very many passengers, so he will know all of them.

For someone with dietary restrictions eating in anytime dining (not Club Class or traditional dining), I recommend eating in the same restaurant every night. That way you would have the same head waiter. All you have to do is mention to the waiter each evening that the head waiter took your order the night before.

I was with a party of eight in Club Class on a British Isles cruise. We had the same table every night, and it was always available whenever we wanted to eat. But that was because we were a party of eight, and we were the only party of eight in Club Class on that cruise. Parties of two or four did not always get the same table or the same waiters - they would not hold a specific table for you all evening.

Since you are from the United States, you can rebook with no penalty - if you are still before final payment and if you did not book under a nonrefundable deposit promotion. However, you will receive the currently available price and promotions - not the price and promotions available when you first booked. It may be better or worse than when you first booked.

First check the price online at the Princess website for the cabin you want. After seeing the price difference, decide if you want to change. If you want to change, call your travel agent (if you used one) or Princess (if you didn't use a travel agent) to change your booking.

Thanks NavyVeteran for your CC dining insights. We're going to give it a try, but it will be interesting to see if it's actually worth an additional $50 pp/day over booking a mini-suite. We hope so.

I booked just because of being able to walk in any time the dining room is open.

The convenience of Anytime with the service of Traditional.

The fact that it’s a higher cost is something my DH doesn’t need to know.

Keep in mind .... The locations of the mini-suites that are now CC Mini-Suites, have always been more expensive than other mini-suites.

We like having a mid-ship mini-suite so we've always had to pay more even before CC Dining.

We always booked midship minis, but the difference in cost is higher now. I don’t mind paying it.

We had an upsell in 2017 to Club Class in a mini suite.  We really enjoyed the perks.  When we booked our upcoming cruise to Hawaii I didn’t want to pay full price for CC, so we booked a regular mini suite just a short ways aft from midship.  Not long afterward Princess gave us a free upgrade to Club Class by adding our cabin to the mix.  Yay!  Even better than an upsell.

We had that happen on the Ruby last June. However we didn't get to use it as we were traveling with a large family group.

For us at elite, there are no perks other than the food. We always try and book a mini right up against the M1s (CC designation) midship. That way we can book a few specialty dining room dinners for less.

Not sure if you were looking for tips on what to bring or how to use the room. There are multiple threads on the subject.

We are now rethinking our long range CC bookings and plan to downgrade to a mini-suite if we can get early fixed seating at a table for 2 in the MDR. That additional $100 per day (for 2 people) to have one extra dinner dish just doesn't seem worth it to us and since we would probably be there when the CC dining room opens every evening, an early fixed seating table for 2 in the MDR should work just fine for us.

To be honest we never really thought about the additional CC cost until we heard that HAL was charging $50 pp/day for their new Club Orange services, which look a lot like the CC offerings, and thought that was a ridiculous price. Then, guess what, we rechecked the price difference between a mini-suite and a CC mini-suite on our exiting bookings and you guessed it, it was about $50 pp/day, which definitely adds up on 16 and 33 day cruises!

As far as being spoiled by the suite life, we can understand that too. We just finished a 21 day Celebrity cruise in a sky suite ($350/pp/day which included all of the Go Best perks, eating in the private Luminae restaurant and getting additional CC points to get us faster to Elite) and have no plans of booking anything else when we sail on Celebrity.

If I might ask, what impressed you about your stay in your vista suite and which ship were you on as we do have one booked on the Island next year that we got at a pretty fare rate?

Is the Vista Suite on the Island an aft suite?   If so have you searched to see if the cabin has any issues.   There have been reports on CC that some of the newer aft suites can vibrate more then normal.

Yes, it's an aft-facing suite. Thanks for the heads-up. I'll have to check on that; although vibrations really don't bother us that much.

I think you are good with that cabin.

CC member Composer, Sandy stayed in A726 which is a corner balcony and it was not good.

We have stayed in Lido 726 which was awesome.

The Club Class experience either in a mini or a suite is awesome!

Sounds good. I did check, though, and it sounds like the vibration issues, if there were any, were with the new suites on the Lido deck.

Everything on the aft end is new.  All decks.

They were just open viewing decks prior.

Does anyone know if you can change out the 2 half bottles of wine?  We're not wine drinkers at all.  The only reason we've gone with CC is because of the cabin location.

Have not done it, but my experience is room serves is very flexible as to what you can do.

That is what we have concluded. If your are not elite, getting all the elite perks adds to the value such as free laundry.

We book a Mini adjacent to the CC class rooms and spend the saving on specialty dining (including UBD) and a few drinks at a princess theater.
