Need help organizing a slot pull

Hello, I volunteered to organize a Meet and Mingle for our sailing. I thought a few folks might be interested in a slot pull. How do you do this? I participated in one on a Carnival cruise about 10 years ago and I just paid my money, took my pulls at the machine, and left when it was done. I understand the concept. Everyone pays a set amount of money, and gets X number of pulls on the machine. Can someone who has run one or more of them successfully please give me advice on how to set one up? Thanks in advance.

Here is what I use: Each player will ‘donate’ $15 and will usually be playing on a $1 Wheel of Fortune slot machine (If they have one). You could also do $21 for 7 pulls. All the money goes into the machine first, then each player would get 5 pulls ($3 per pull). Anyone can join right up to the beginning. Once the 1st person is ready to pull the game closes.

After all pulls are completed, the payout is divided evenly rounded down to the lower dollar (i.e. $13.52 would round down to $13). Any extra would go to the person that had highest single pull winning amount (split evenly if there is a tie or ties).

Make up a spread sheet of those that would like to play and have a spot to check off each pull plus any payouts they get, to keep track of highest winner.

For anyone that wants to join in on the fun and hopefully win some $$$, you can do sign-ups and collect the money at the Meet & Greet, maybe do it right after the M&G or choose a good time then? 

 

Here is an example: Say we have 25 people playing, and the winnings on the machine after everyone has their 5 pulls comes to $374: we would divide $374 by 25 = $14.96.  That would give everyone $14 when we round it down to a whole dollar (no change), 25 people times $14 = $350, leaving $24 extra which would go to the person with the highest single pull (split evenly in case of a tie(s)).

You may wish to speak to the Casino Manager ahead of time and ask if they will donate prizes-typically some wine. We used this for the top three spinners during our pull on our transatlantic in November.  I would suggest that you NOTuse the machine they suggest, while I have  no proof of any hanky panky , it seems that when we have used the machine the manager recommends, that we loose 😢

 

I would suggest getting a helper to assist you in marking down each spinners earnings and counting the money.

I too volunteered to organize the slot pull for our cruise. Would you be able to get me the spreadsheet also ? Thank you.

If you’re organizing a larger slot pull (we had 150 participants on Bliss TA), it’s much more efficient to run a ticket-based slot pull.  We sold the tickets in advance and at the event, and each person’s turn was tracked on the ticket itself after they played on one of the designated machines (we had multiple with 2 admins at each).  Our entire slot pull, from meet up to prize distribution and cash out, was completed in about an hour.  NOTHING was tracked other than on the tickets.  Your ticket was marked when purchased, played, and then cashed out.  Easy!

I made a 100 page PDF (3 tickets per page) and printed front & back at Staples on card stock (colors to mimic Monopoly money).   They’re individually numbered, hence the need to print 100 pages vs 1 page 100 times.
