Phi Phi Don Excursion

I will be going on a Costa cruise soon and am considering the Phi Phi Islands excursion while in Phuket.  I am a beach person and have always wanted to see it.  However, I have read lately that it has completely changed, having been overrun by tourists (like me!).  From the photos I have seen, it looks like Times Square, which I live near, so I don't exactly want that if I go to a gorgeous beach.  Can anyone tell me if they've taken this excursion and what it was like at Phi Phi Don?  Was it hundreds of boats and wall-to-wall people?  How was monkey beach? Did you snorkel? Thanks so much.

Phi Phi is pretty but with the vast volumes of tourist and all their rubbish the leave behind it's now pretty awful.

The last and only time we were there we could not wait to get back to the ship even if it was a Costa ship.

If you want to go to a beach, then check out Patong Beach while in Phuket, great beach, good restuarants and very good deals in genuine Rolexs. Watch out for the lady boys.

Anyway isn't Phi Phi beach now been closed indefinately so as the marine park and coral can  recover.
