Help please!!

We will be visiting the port in March. We are trying to find something for our group to do. The ruins are out. My mother has limited mobility and can’t walk long distances. We will have a wheelchair with us. 

 

Any suggestions? Is it reasonable to push wheelchair to the beach?

You have to board a bus to take you into town as the pier is one of the longest at 4miles long. Once you get to the drop off area there is a market or you can head towards the beach. The beach is nothing special. With limited mobility you can spend some time in town along with the area around the pier and call it a day.

How far is the beach from the drop off area and is it free? Safe to walk to?

It's safe to walk to and it's free. It's about 3 blocks. There's a nice sidewalk that runs along the back of the beach and there are lots of shops and restaurants, but nothing fancy.

I lived in Paducah  Kentucky late 50's and again 1970's near Liberty{ Green River }.

 

Apparrently Progreso is near the center of metero impact crater from 65 million years ago.

The one that wiped out the dinosaurs.

 

Most of the cenotes ---partial perfect ring of them--- were created by that meteor impact.

I would suggest  private tour and everyone can go, including the wheelchair! Uxmal is a good choice as it has ramps for wheelchair access around much of the site. Don't waste time in Progreso, get out and see stuff.

in 2017, my husband,his brother and his mother went to Uxmal and a cenote with Sergio's tours.  She was in a wheelchair, and they helped her get around and she had a wonderful time. I highly recommend them!
