Fascination muster drill, San Juan AND Barbados?

We're doing this cruise out of San Juan in March.  I know some people embark/debark in Barbados.  I'm wondering how the muster drill works, do we do it in San Juan and again in Barbados?  Do the people that board in Barbados or San Juan have separate muster drills?  How does this work?

I've never done this itinerary and I'm pretty excited.

Only the people boarding in Barbados will do the muster drill there.  EM

That makes sense.

We're doing this next week.  I'm going to assume those embarking in Barbados would have their own muster as the rest of us would be out on the island.  Can definitely let you know!

I didn't think about everyone being out on the island.  I hope you have a good cruise!

It's a great itinerary. We did the cruise in September, embarking in San Juan. We only had to do muster in San Juan.

That is correct.

Those who board on Sundays in San Juan

do the muster drill in San Juan, before departure. See pics below.

Those few cabins that board in Barbados (myself among them, several times now)

do our own separate muster drill before departure from Bridgetown Port, Barbados.

When we Barbados islanders/boarders get to San Juan on Sunday

and you guys are done and getting off the ship

the new ppl that arrive and board will do muster, before the ship leaves PR.

At that time, we Barbados-boarders are exempt from the Sunday muster

but despite that

cabin stewards make a rounds of the hallways and cabins

and will open up every single cabin to see who's trying to avoid the muster!

At this time, flashing emergency exit lighting blinks in your hallway,

which you've probably never seen before!

We have been chilling in our cabin during Sunday Muster at San Juan,

when the cabin door opened un-announced

and a rather insistent voice instructed us that we should be outside for muster drill!

I responded to say we boarded on Wednesday at Barbados,

and we have done ours already

and an apology was quickly offered for the intrusion!

Nevertheless, the whole ruddy thing is played at full volume

thru any and all public address speakers on the ship,

including your cabin -and its bathroom.

There is noooo escape. It drones on and on in two languages

(one is not enough punishment lol) until it's done

so you have the opportunity to refresh your memory re. What to DO!

Just a quick one...

to show you the Emergency Evacuation lighting

displayed in the empty Carnival hallways,

while you are up on deck doing MusterDrill!

I alluded to this lighting in my post above.

I've only ever seen it the once!

The green upright columns of light you see ... indicate Exit points!

As far as I know once you have done the muster drill once you are good to go.  I was on back to back 10 day cruises last year and only had to attend on the first leg

We have done several back to back cruises and have always been required to attend both muster drills,  Except now they are called safety briefing, and everyone has their Sail & Sign card swiped, and those who don't show up are required to attend a separate briefing.

Aplmac, awesome post.  Who knew that's what's going on while we're all standing around with our life vests on.

Thank you all for answering, I figured it had to be something like that, but I've never done a cruise with two embarkation points.  I have done B2B's three times and have always had to do two muster drills though.

We are boarding in Barbados, Ive been told by previous passengers that during the San Juan Muster because bars and restaurants are closed there are free snacks and drinks offered to Barbados embarkers, Did you find this true of your cruises?

To be honest... muster time at San Juan is around 9:30 p.m.

and after a day's shopping at Malls and roaming Old San Juan,

these two old people are kinda pooped, and done with the day!

Knowing what's up, we usually retire to the cabin, put up with the noise

and maybe when it's over, I'll go up on deck with the camera briefly

to get a few night-time sailaway shots....

In view of that exciting scenario, I really can't say..

but wouldn't be surprised! It sounds credible.

I've often wondered what other (younger?) Barbados Boarders do

during the San Juan muster drill. Now I know!

Sorry I can't help you: maybe someone else can..

Um.... How long ago was that muster picture? We don't need to wear life jackets any more. At least we never have been on a cruise that made us.

But yes, everyone does it before leaving their point of departure. :classic_biggrin:

I was thinking exactly the same thing!! I have sailed this route from San Juan three times on the Valor, Liberty and even the Fascination and have never taken the life vests out of the room or even been asked to do so. Is this old or is this something they started doing again?
