felton183 Posted January 28, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2019 (edited) I was wondering if anybody has booked with a private company to get to seven mile beach, $48.00 for a ride to the beach seems a bit stiff. I understand if you book through RC that they guarantee you will be back before ship sails. Anybody have any info? NeedsVitaminSea Posted January 28, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2019 Are you talking about Seven Mile on Grand Cayman? We walked off the ship, grabbed a taxi and got to the beach for just dollars per person. It was easy and safe. The driver was very helpful and suggested public beaches that he could take us to. That is what I was going to ask, apparently there is one near Negril in Jamaica too.

The Fun Researcher Posted January 28, 2019 #7 Share Posted January 28, 2019 Just grab a taxi when you get to port. You can setup a pickup time as well. I think we had a car full (5 -7 people) for about $25 each way. (4 years ago) Dan
angie7911922 Posted January 28, 2019 #8 Share Posted January 28, 2019 We also used a cab. It was quick and easy. And much less expensive than the ship. As long as you keep an eye on your time, you will be back to the ship in plenty of time.
robtulipe Posted January 28, 2019 #9 Share Posted January 28, 2019 In Grand Cayman we typically just walk to Pageant Beach which is where Seven Mile starts. It has a decent white sand beach with good snorkeling but has no public facilities right on that beach. It is one kilometer, 0.6 mile, north on N.Church St from where you exit from the cruise port area. There is a public entrance just the other side or north of the Wharf restaurant which is just past the Kirk supermarket where the above street changes to West Bay Rd. That market is a good spot for drinks and snacks for both the beach and for onboard the ship. There is an Esso gas station at the corner of Eastern Ave where the above name change happens. The Kirk Market is to the right of that Esso station but isn't shown on the map below, only its parking and Marine outlet on the other side of Eastern Ave is. Inland from that beach north of the Wharf restaurant is a large vacant lot.
LLRS1 Posted January 28, 2019 #10 Share Posted January 28, 2019 We always take the public bus, $2.50 per person (they accept US $). You can board them and get off anywhere along the route, doesn't have to be at a bus stop. We just start walking towards the beach and when the bus (mini van) comes along the driver will honk to see if you want a ride. Just wave at the driver to stop and tell them where you want to be dropped off. We usually go to Royal Palms ($2 entrance fee).

cb at sea Posted January 28, 2019 #13 Share Posted January 28, 2019 OMG...hop on the public bus...$2.50 pp...same for the return. So easy...so cheap. You do NOT need an "excursion" to go to a beach in GC! It's the most simple, easiest port EVER! The buses run all the time. Tell them where on the beach you want to hop off..they stop. After the beach, walk to the road (which is only steps away...the beaches are narrow) and the next bus will pick you up The "Seagrape or Public" beach ares has facilities....food/drink, restrooms, watersport rentals, lounger/umbrella rentals. (All of the beach is public....no fees for entry) Each section has a name, tho....so pretty much anywhere along the 6 mile stretch is fine. (No...it's NOT 7 miles long!)
