Well, shoot!!!! I had heard a month or so ago that this was a possibility but really thought it was just a rumor. Guess not. Now to plan something else for the fall.

I am not upset about it, but I would have preferred to have Carnival press the send button on emails to affected cruisers prior to issuing the press release stating that they had been in contact with affected cruisers.

As to how they handle it the situation going forward we shall see, I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt. I think we all knew in the back of our minds that the possibility of a delayed delivery always exists on an inaugural cruise.  I had  used a 25% FCC applied to this sailing from a shortened cruise earlier this year, so I am anxious to see how that is handled.

On the plus side, CCL stock beat on earnings and revenue, and despite this delay, it is up 6% this morning!

They sent it to TA’s and pvp’s before that

Well I booked direct with Carnival and still haven't received an e-mail or phone call.  Frustrated along with everyone else,.  This was an Elite cruise for me with great perks.  Hoping that the Casino Department is working on a possible replacement.  We shall see.

Stupid question?

do we get a 25% FCC on our deposit only or on the amount we would have paid when final payment was due in June.

we had a suite booked..I can’t see CCL giving me 25% on that amount..

It’s 25% on your next cruise. The amount will be based on what you pay for your next cruise. If it’s $4000, you’ll pay $3000 plus you’ll get an OBC of $100 per person if booked before Feb 18th 2020.

I had $450 of OBC on this cruise plus prepaid gratuities. I’m very curious how they’ll deal this...

We booked with our regular PVP as well. It's almost 2 PM and we haven't been notified yet either. I sure hope everyone has Vacation Protection insurance for the airfare and hotels.

Got an email from Carnival. Offered four options and booked on Carnival Legend for 12 night Med cruise on Sept. 8.

Well, have yet to hear from travel agent. Also, I did call Carnival and they won't cover cost laid out for travel insurance if not purchased from Carnival. That's a hefty hit...and the perks we got when we booked...gone as well. Really?

I’m still waiting to get a letter from Carnival..but our friends already got theirs.

sadly you’re wrong..it’s not 25 % off a future cruise..the letter states it’s 25 % of what you paid..so if my deposit was 750.00 do they think 187.50 in FCC’s will entice me to rebook when I lose 1300.00 in OBC’s.

i only booked this cruise for the unique itinerary which were all new ports of call..

It should be 25% of your cruise fare on the Mardi Gras (not of your deposit).  Also, why would you lose your OBC?   Have you called Carnival?

I booked through a travel agency.

how about we raise a ruckus and ask if we can use that 25% FCC on any carnival owned cruise line like Princess,Hal or Costa.

I haven't received an email either and I called and they were to have sent another but I have not received the second one.  the 25% FCC is on what your cruise would have cost you on the Mardi Gras.  I also had a FCC that was applied to the Mardi Gras and it will be honored for another cruise and I can use both of them on the same sailing.

I have not received any email either,  and I checked my spam too. I am so disappointed- this itinerary was really exciting.
It’s not like a Caribbean cruise where you can just pick a different date- this was a unique itinerary. And now no longer available. Big disappointment.

I understand your disappointment.  It sucks.

Looks like 5000 passengers are in panic mode looking for alternatives with minimal flight changes.

we found the Sept 1 Regal Princess 12 night cruise out of Southampton.

price has gone up over 3000.00 in the last two hours since we got our travel agent quotes.

Now inside cabins are over 2000.00 which were balcony prices earlier..buggers.

Just heard from my travel agent who clarified the 25% FCC.

its on the amount you would have spent which frankly is quite generous.

my wife and I get 1810.00 usable on bookings by dec 28 2020.

Now I have to decide if I want to travel with CCL ever again..

i really only wanted to go because of the itinerary and a new ship..

Really wish I could use it on Princess even if it were only an OBC;)

We were really looking forward to this itinerary as well.  NCL has a very similar itinerary in October.  We re-booked on the Legend going from Barcelona to Venice pretty much the same dates.  What I am wondering is the ship is still being built in Europe.  The first sailing will be out of Port Canaveral.  Are they going to sail it across the Atlantic empty?  Why not try and salvage something out of the delay and still let people sail the transatlantic?

I'm at work and just heard about this from "Travelling with Bruce". Unfortunately it was to late to call my ccl agent, hopefully she will be working tomorrow. Does anyone know if Carnival will give the people that booked the first sailing the choice to book on the new sailing date?

We have the Aug. 30th cruise on the Legend on hold...

Wow, that's crazy, I'm fine with the credits they are offering but would have loved the chance to book on the new date. Guess I'll start sailing NCL more after I use the credits.

They sent it to TA’s and pvp’s before that

So? I am not at all sure how their decision to engage with third parties has any bearing on how they engaged with me or any other of their direct customers?

Pretty simple actually, much easier to notify agents first, then it gets out so John posts it, then emails to all cruisers, logical and been in place to operate this way for a LONG time.  You can call TA’s and PVP’s third parties, but they act on Carnival’s behalf and as their agent.  I get you are disappointed, we were on the sailing as well.  That said, the system works.  Book with one of these and you can get first notice as well, if it is really that important.  We notified our affected clients 3 minutes after we received the notice.

This is unprecedented ground for them.  As others have mentioned, the Nov 14th sailing went faster than lickety split.  There was no time to hold the remaining (who knows how many there were anyways) cabins.  How do they take the cabins left and prioritize who of the 6000 get first dibs, how log do they give they to decide, how quickly could they transfer or reboot, etc, etc, etc

Fellow travellers I need your help.

I started a new post on the Carnival board titled Open Letter to CCL.

lmk your thoughts and please respond in the positive if you feel the same way.

There are close to 40000 of us affected by the 8 cancelled sailings which is a pretty powerful voice/lobby.

sincerely,Amit
