Following...I read one of your reviews when you were on a Carnival ship and really enjoyed it.  You seem like an interesting person to hang out with.  Going on Breakaway in August, so I’m looking forward to your review!  Have an awesome time in NOLA!  Went to Mardi Gras years ago while I was in college and let’s just say I’m glad there were no cell phones/social media back then!! 🤔

Bags are dropped off at the hotel, and I'm out on foot. I ended up a bit turned around due to many of the streets not having signage... So, I actually ended up at a place that planned on stopping by later, Maypop. A fusion restaurant, and voted best new restaurant of 2017.

The first morsel of food since 7:30 this morning. Fried oysters, and some kind of spicy curry amuse bouche...

Following along as we are on the Breakaway cruise after yours.

You had responded to my post asking about whether the public Vibe bar is open for sail away. If you are near it I would really appreciate it if you could let me know if it's open as we are trying to find a good meet up spot for a large group of people at sail away.

Thanks, and have a great trip!

I haven’t tried Maypop yet. How is it?

Merils is tasty but more fine dining. We like to go around opening time and snack and drink cocktails. Johnny Sanchez might be fun. We love the sandwiches and pie at Cochon Butcher.

Maybe you still have time to catch the $0.25 drink specials at Commander’s Palace 🙂

Still getting the lay of the land here... I walked all the way down to the Julia street cruise terminal to check it out. Hoping my hotel room is ready soon so I can unburden myself of this backpack containing all of my cash, passport, and other valuables...

I'm going to estimate that I've walked about six or seven miles so far... I was finally able to get checked into my room and rest for a minute. I have to admit that the room is pretty nice. I paid for it several months ago with my side job money... Too bad I'll only be in it to sleep for one night considering what I paid for it.

And, the view from the window on the 14th floor...

The patch has been installed, and since the review started out at a tiki bar, I made my way to the French Quarter to Latitude 29. Sort of a dive / tiki bar... Of course it can only be judged by their Mai Tai, so that's what I went with.

A couple of pics from my walk from the hotel to the French Quarter...
