b/c Reflection was a one and done for us due to that  layout, truncated Sky lounge, crowding elsewhere

Yes, same here: overcrowding was too much for us too on Reflection. We’d rather have any other S class ship. Appears it could actually be a big benefit to her that Equinox isn’t being ‘Revolutionised’ as much as the other S class ships.

We have mixed feelings on Reflection...Whilst we found the deck area on sea days very busy (much busier than on our 7 other S class cruises) we did enjoy the extra dining options. Need to book on the Silhouette...Best of both worlds?

Yes, Silhouette is fabulous. Our last cruise a couple of weeks ago on her was a little different because it was a mini cruise and totally different from any of our previous X sailings, so I wouldn’t hold that against her 😉. She’s our favourite S class ship and we wouldn’t hesitate sailing on her again.

We are sailing in Sept and the fares reflected a REVOLUTIONIZED ship with new bedding, new rooms, etc etc...

IF they aren't updating the staterooms etc... really those of us sailing on her are being short changed...

We just went through this sailing Infinity. She was supposed to be revolutionized before the TA and the dry dock changes meant she was not...and it showed in some places

😣

We are also sailing  in September and the fares in no way reflected a revolutionised ship. We paid exactly the same fare that we paid for more or less the same cruise three years ago, taking into account inflation it actually worked

out less. I’m baffled why we are seeing posts suggesting people paid extra, looking at other sailing I can’t see evidence to back it up on any.

We always book when the itinerary's are released and on the cabins we book the prices have always risen. theh prices sometimes fall after final payment for some categories but our chosen suites are never available that late.

We are on a 14 day Iceland and Ireland with Silhouette in August pre revolution and our RS for 3 is £20k

in July 2020 we have 14 to the Baltic in  a CS on Silhouette post revolution. An RS for 3 would have been £24k 😲

Same length, same ship and a 20% price rise post revolution seems wee bit "extra" especially when the Iceland cruises usually command a premium.

I am also booked on the Equinox in November.  The plans to "revolutionize" the S class ships was always different than the M class ships.  Ex.  The cabins will be refreshed on the S class, but not completely replaced as in the M class. Plus other differences as well. The fare at which I booked seemed fair, especially when I compare it to the Edge and what that cost.

Celebrity advertised the sailings as Revolutionized ships...

The prices pre Revolution vs those advertised for "Revolutionized" ships are indeed different--hence when the ship comes back from dry dock and NOT completely revolutionized and yet you paid a premium ....

Interesting comments about the price differences in the Equinox.  I did not see the prices climbing after the Revolution was announced for a newly enhanced ship.  In fact, I saw the opposite.

I booked a balcony cabin on a Norwegian when the prices first came out for June 2019.  Several weeks later later, while scanning through Celebrity, I noticed their prices, with the addition of the Go Best pricing was cheaper for an unobstructed balcony cabin on deck 6. I switched my booking to Celebrity.

A month or so later, there  was a price drop on my cabin category. I grabbed it.  Several months later, after the revolution was announced,  there was another price drop on Celebrity.   I was able to upgrade my cabin to a Concierge hump cabin on deck 10, with a huge balcony for  less then I was paying  for my balcony cabin on deck 6.

Bottom line for me is that I am paying about $1,000 less for a Concierge cabin (after the  Revolution was announced) then my original booking price ( before the Revolution was announced ).

Again for the cruise you are on please show evidence you paid more because it was about to be revolutionised, we are on the September 23rd cruise and as mentioned previously  paid zero extra.

Wow. Millennium class looks awesome! Solstice - especially the stateroom - is...meh.

Millenium Class gutted cabins down to the steel. . . Solstice Class, not so much.

And it shows. 😞 Wish I had understood that the Revolution was not fully coming when I booked. I would have chosen differently.

AND with the shortened dry dock (Cadiz instead of Bahamas) even less

Some very good prices. We paid £2700 including the drinks package for a 1A when we booked last year and were every happy with that price, it’s now down by around £300 if booking in the UK. At the time we booked the revolution had already been announced and comparing with three years ago we paid £2600 for a cat down on Eclipse.

I was on the Equinox twice last year and it is a beautiful ship!   You did not choose wrong,  and I don't think you will be disappointed.   I am probably in the minority,  but I am glad that some of these changes are not being made.    I would have liked the bathrooms to be upgraded in the rooms,  but they were fine.   Clean, spacious (for a cruise ship bathroom), lots of storage, and I love the enclosure instead of a curtain.   The carpet showed some wear and tear, as did the balcony,  but these are things that are being taken care of.   As are new bedding and curtains.

The dining room is beautiful,  and I have seen posts that said chairs were ripped,  but I saw nothing like that.   I guess it could use new draperies,  but still was in great shape.

I am thrilled that the library is still going to be there, and that they are not going to ruin the beautiful sky lounge by putting in new suites.   It is one of the best places to watch the arrival at a port,  especially on a not so nice day weather wise.   Silent disco was held in here, as well as the captains club party and there was plenty of room.   I have seen an art auction in here also,  and hate to see this made into a smaller room where everyone is crowded in.   The views from this lounge are beautiful as well.

I guess if you are in a suite and there is no hot tub being added to the retreat area, I could understand being upset.

The casino is going to be updated, as well as some of the bars and the buffet..

IMO this ship did not need to be Revolutionized,  but just refreshed,  which is what is happening.     I am booked again for October,  and would have booked even if it had not been getting any updates.

They may have changed the picture for the Solstice Class, but did not update the language.

My comments  are based on what I expect on the Equinox based on the above rendering in the fall.

New Carpet - No

New Drapery - Yes

New Coffee Table (and sofa) - No (yet I am encouraged that we will get a new coffee table in the future)

New TV - No

New Art - No

New Veranda Furniture - Yet to be seen (I'd prefer they left well enough alone)

Though, they are supposedly redoing all the veranda cabin bathrooms. New sink, shower, etc.

They can only do what they can do after the unfortunate incident in the Bahamas.  We will see come June.  It's possible they will keep a crew on for sailings that are not fully booked to knock out other unoccupied cabins for the new carpet and furnishings swap.  Time will tell.

I would rather have art than what resembles an ugly IKEA cubby that you have to climb on the bed to even use. Talk about useless...

When I get home (I have been traveling for my friends’ wedding), I am returning the call I got following my email and seeing if there is a way to move my booking over to Edge. Or I’ll just cancel and go back to my reliable Disney Cruise Line and just deal with the stupidity of Marvel or Star Wars.
