Ft Lauderdale departure

We are departing out of Ft Lauderdale in January going to Half Moon Cay and Cuba.  I'm super excited, but we have only ever cruised out of Galveston.  We will fly in a day early and most likely stay a day after.  Any suggestions on fun/relaxing hotels?  We typically stay at the San Luis in Galveston and love the pool and swim up bar there.  It's heated and just a great start to our vacations.

There are dozens of threads on hotels just down the board. Embassy Suites pool is pretty nice. It doesn't have a swim up bar.

www.sunny.org has lots of ALL area hotel and tourist info.  We like the Embassy Suites and other hotels in the downtown/17th street area. Lots of nearby dining options and the water taxi is fun.

I always stay at the Embassy Suites on 17th. Great amenities and beautiful pool with a tiki bar. Close to strip malls and restaurants and a sports bar. I'll be there in April before boarding Edge.

Hollywood Beach.  There are lots of options from resorts to boutique hotels and very affordable.  Why not just stay on the beach?  The broadwalk is awesome with lots of things going on.  Looking at the San Luis, I would think the Hollywood Beach Marriott is pretty close.  Or even the Margaritaville Resort if you want something a little more.

Marriott Harbor Beach Resort and Spa is great and is a short distance from both the airport and to the port the next day.  It's right on the beach, you can sit and watch the cruise ships leave the night before and we have had some nice meals there.  Their pool is great and they have a tiki bar.  No swim up bar though.
