Advice on Two Fort Lauderdale Hotels

We are trying to decide between 2 Fort Lauderdale hotels- A Club Floor room at the Renaissance Hotel and a Marina Tower room at The Hilton Marina. Both hotels have great reviews and alarmingly poor reviews. Should we simply choose the less expensive of the two? Or is one decidedly better?

Decide what you want to do.  Access to water taxi, view from the room, and having a balcony would send me to the Hilton.  proximity to shopping and dining locations might lead me to the Renaissance.

Both are nice hotels.
