Dinner attire for those non-gala evenings

Please help me. Gala nights I am good on attire, but I am trying to figure out what to wear in the MDR on non-formal nights for our Alaskan cruise.  I keep hearing "Alaska tends to be more casual than other areas" but what does that exactly mean?  Could someone please enlighten me on what you wore on 'regular" evenings in the MDR?  Thanks!  #doineedtogoshopping?

Not sure if Alaska attire codes are different from Caribbean but my general rule of thumb for MDR is dress like you would when you go out to a restaurant to eat. Casual works fine for lunch, maybe slightly dressier for dinner, but not formal wear dressier. Hope this helps.

I wore button down long sleeve shirts. It tends to drop a few degrees at night.

I wear "smart casual" to dinner.  Nice pants, top, jacket.  If the top is a tunic, no jacket.  I also have several long dressy kaftan-style tops that come mid-thigh that I wear with long pants.  Dressy sandals.

When we went, my daughter and I dressed smart casual (dress, dressy pants and top type of stuff).  We probably were overdressed, but that's the way we roll 🙂

Seems you'll be on a HAL cruise.  

The same sort of thing you would wear to a nice but casual  restaurant at home.  

Jeans are OK but don't wear shorts.
