Scarlet Lady - Virgin Voyages - Richard’s Birthday Bash July 15, 2020 Roll Call

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Thought I’d start a Roll Call for Richard’s Birthday Bash cruise!

Hubby and I decided if we were going to give Virgin Voyages a go, we’d splash out and do the Bash cruise.

Looking forward to seeing more get revealed in due course!

Who else is joining us?

Definitely!

It’s actually my husband’s birthday too, just before we leave (we’re going to have a few nights in Miami first), but celebrating your birthday on board I think you should put in a request to get the cruise renamed to include you as well as Richard, haha!

Miami and Havana have been on our ‘to do’ list for a while, so we’re excited by the ports as well as the swanky new ship.

But I do wonder when the next reveal of some more info on the ship will be... I’m not patient enough for this not knowing all the details scenario!

I’ve just noticed Virgin Voyages have been added to the Ship Mate app, along with some more detailed deck plans...

We were very excited to sign up for the Scarlett Lady and chose the Richard Branson b/d cruise.  BUT, we are much more than disappointed about the Cuba cancellation and Key West destination.  Only reason we booked this cruise was for Cuba. Period.

We live in coastal Georgia and have been to Key West and have no desire to go there again.  And not even an overnight destination like the Cuba port.  Because we booked in February we thought we would be able to cancel this cruise as the majority of cruise lines gave that option about the Cuba cancellation.  Wrong!  No cancellation policy (teaches me about reading fine print!) We got a small deduction in price (really small) and chance to still go on this cruise or put our deposit toward a future cruise.  I have been to all these ports. My husband who does all the driving does not want to drive to Miami for this cruise now.

I chose the birthday bash cruise as I thought we the ship would be packed with Branson's celebrity friends as well as Cuba. Anyone have any solution to this? I really would just like my deposit back.

I want to dance on those extra strong tables and so Key West and Bimini both sound good to me! We plan to be on board and hope to see everyone there!

Good to see some more cruisers joining!

When do we think we might start getting some more news about what to expect during the Bash?

Next year now?

Just booked this cruise today.  We were supposed to be on the April 1 sailing but we're now on the August 7 inaugural cruise and I used our future voyage credit to book the birthday bash.  My birthday is July 15 so I had a really hard time deciding between this or the inaugural when I booked last February.  I'm so excited to be able to do both now!

Cancelled this cruise before PIF; took the deposit (5%) as a future credit for up to a year.  Feel like this is a wait and see situation.

We are booked and paid for. Do you guys think this will still go? It’s kind of crazy to get on a cruise in two months given the current climate.

I can’t see us being able to fly in from the UK by then unfortunately... even if the cruise does sail.

Continuing to play the waiting game though...

Someone has posted on Facebook (apologies, don’t know what their source is)...

As our most important partners, we wanted to update you first about our recent decision to postpone our sailings through October 15th, 2020 — which your Sailors will be notified about on Thursday, May 21. We’ve been working hard to find a way to set sail by August, but that hasn’t turned out to be possible.

We appreciate how many of your Sailors were excited to sail with us, so we understand how disappointing this news is. But we trust you and your Sailors will understand our decision given the evolving global health challenge we’re all up against.

As of right now, our first sailing is planned for October 16th, 2020, and we’ve rescheduled the Richard’s Birthday Bash sailing for July 14th, 2021. This sailing will still be a once in a lifetime experience for us to have fun, while also continuing our tradition of doing business for good.

To make up for these changes, we’re offering the most flexible and fair options out there for your Sailors. For first-time canceled Sailors, we’ll be auto-crediting double the amount they’ve paid to date toward their voyage fare. And if they book their next sailing before June 30th, we’ll give them up to $500 to spend on board. If they’d prefer a refund, you can call or email us anytime between May 21st and December 31st, 2020. Please know that if a Sailor contacts us directly, we will honor their request and you will still be tied to their booking.

For Sailors who have already received the full 200% in Future Voyage Credit, they will get to keep it. But, if they’d prefer, instead of the 200% Future Voyage Credit, we can refund the full paid amount along with a Future Voyage Credit equal to 25% of the paid voyage fare that can be used on a future sailing.
