Sid's "Ay Tee El" (ATL)

Recommended Posts

Well, you asked for it, so I'm going to try and deliver... Who even knows what this might turn into, or what adventures are in store. I'll try to update it whenever I can if there's any interest... We'll eat... Drink... And, who even knows what else...

Sounds god to me.  Seeing as I won't get to ATL any time soon, if ever.  I'm actually currently dragging through the work day watching webcams from New Orleans, currently.

I'm in! I lived in ATL for a few years, back in the day. Loved the Euclid Avenue Yacht Club.

Looking forward to it, as I will be traveling through ATL about once a month.... always looking for a hidden gem, a hole in the wall, fun place to check out....

Wow... I certainly wasn't expecting to get a response like this from a phantom hidden thread... My hopes are that I can make it interesting enough to be worth your while... The sun has finally come out here in Atlanta, after more than a week of rain. I'm hoping that the temperature rise's above 60 this afternoon, so I can take the motorcycle out for a ride. She's been shacked up in the garage for a couple of months now...

Also, I want to try and plan something special for Tuesday after work. This will mark five years since one of the worst days of my life. It also marked the beginning of my obsession with cruising and travel in general. I think I'm going to go to her favorite Italian restaurant and order her favorite dish. Maybe even a drink or two...

The anniversaries of those we've loved that are no longer here are always tough. Celebrating them in whatever way works for you is the BEST way to do it. I'm at the 15.5 year mark and still think about the day that changed me forever. Hitting my first solo trip, on the Breakaway, in 8 weeks--excited for the adventure especially after reading your review.

I'm finally getting back in the groove (rut) of my at home life... I just now today finished excavating my suitcase, and got it put away. I went out to lunch today at one of my favorite little spots, Yet Tuh... A tiny Korean restaurant, that's supposedly one of the 50 best restaurants in America, according to a sign on the front of the building. It's very difficult to find if you're not familiar with the area, around back and in the basement of an old office park. It only has about twelve tables, and the servers barely speak any English. Today, like most times I visit, I was the only non Korean in the place...

Before the main dish comes out, several small plates known as banchan arrive. They range from kimchi to fish cakes, to seaweed and other things I can't quite identify. I asked the server what a couple of the items were, but she wasn't sure what the English word for the items was. I just eat it all since I like pretty much anything anyway. Sorry for the poor photos, the light was shining through the window right behind me and created a shadow.

I had my usual, the stone bowl bibam bop with Korean beef. It arrives in a hot stone bowl that's about five hundred degrees, and you can hear the rice cooking as they bring it to the table. The best part comes at the end, when the rice at the bottom burns and becomes crispy...

And, a close up after drenching with gochujang sauce, which is made from fermented chill powder and other things...
