shiphound Posted February 26, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2019 Celebrity will confiscate any wine bought in any port and give it back to you at the end of the cruise. We will be on a cruise on Celebrity Reflection going through the Mediterranean. There are excursion options to wineries, etc., and cities with wine stores. Don't have any issue with the fact that I could not open any bottles that I get on the ship (well, I do, but that is not my question). If I want to buy wine to bring home, how will the wine be stored by Celebrity? I don't want to buy any decent wine during the cruise and have it ruined by the ship storing it in too warm a place. Anyone know?
AugustoEverAfter Posted February 26, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2019 That’s actually an excellent question because one of the ports we are visiting on our cruise from Venice there is an excursion to winery that I am interested in. As a sidenote if you have not already purchased them I found bags from the container store that were reasonably price under five dollars each that are a great way to bring wine bottles and things like that home and keep them safe they were called jet bag you might also be able to find them on Amazon but last year we brought home three bottles of wine and some olive oil from Italy with no problem by storing them in those bags. Rare cruisestitch Posted February 26, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2019 I would not expect celebrity to have the facilities to properly store expensive wine, but I will say that in my experience, in Europe when an excursion was to a winery, we have been allowed to bring that wine back onto the ship. Whether the same will be true for your cruise is hard to predict.
jkgourmet Posted February 26, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2019 No matter how they got there, Most of the people we know who visit wineries in Europe ship the wine home. Unless they're only buying a couple of bottles.
woody14h Posted February 26, 2019 #5 Share Posted February 26, 2019 I have bought a case from Italy twice. Once they stored it for me. The other they let me put in my room. Wish they stored.
