Haven Acesss for friends onboard

they can come to your room and your room only.  No courtyard, sundeck, restaurant, bar, etc.

i personally would never sail Haven if i had friends or family also on board who were not in  Haven.  this situation forces you to eitehr ignore your family/friends all week to take full advantage of the Haven and perks you paid for, or spend time with them outside the Haven thus wasting money to not enjoy the perks you paid for.

Just curious since I am not familiar with the Haven, how would anyone else know that your friends were not also staying in the Haven.  Couldnt they just use the sundeck, restaurant on the down low?

You have to use a key-card to enter and the name/photo of the person swiping their card is shown on the concierge's desk.

The staff quickly knows who is a Haven guest and who is not. That's one of the reasons for the "briefing" in the Haven lounge on embarkation day.

If someone looks "unfamiliar", they will be asked to show their key-card. If the key-card isn't Haven, the person will be asked to leave/escorted out of the Haven. If trying to use someone else's key-card, the photo on the computer screen won't match the face.

ditto what two wheels said.

as a haven guest, ive also reported people who i know are not haven guests. they are subsequently bounced out.

people pay a premium for the exclusivity  and to avoid crowds.  its grossly unfair for people to try to use benefits they did not pay for and take up loungers, pool space, hot tub space, etc. from paying haven guests.

I had friends who were not in Haven when i sailed.  They are allowed to come to the cabin only.

However i was able to pre-arrange with the concierge a dinner with friends at the Haven restaurant,  (there is an additional charge for this i believe it was $35/pp) and its conditional, up to the concierge to allow for it.  I was approved for the dinner with friends, who had a great time.  But that was it, dinner and than i had to escort them out, no stopping at the lounge or the sundeck etc.

Slightly off topic (I didn't want to start a new thread to ask this), but when did NCL start inviting non-Haven guests to have dinner in the Haven restaurant? How do they decide who to invite?

I don't have specific information regarding this policy. However, considering the ships are owned by NCL it would make sense that certain NCL staff have the authority to invite guests to whatever they deem fit. The criteria may change based on situation. For example, maybe someone had an issue with their cabin so the concierge offers them a Haven dinner as recompense. I have also heard of NCL having writers from travel magazines on board and allowing them to use the Haven restaurants.

It started many years ago. I don't remember when but it was up to 2 guests up to 2 times per week at a price of $25pp per meal. There were a few occasions of 3 people being charged $35pp per meal. Haven guests were able to invite non-Haven guests.

As for NCL inviting people...who knows? Even when someone is invited to the Haven, the concierge can still deny the invite...(search "Haven Hitman" on Youtube)

Many people were able to do the same. Supposedly, it got to the point that too many people were using the service and service for actual Haven guests was starting to suffer. NCL has decided to leave the option up to the concierge who will presumably make the call based on how busy things are or how busy things might be. It's been reported that some CC members were turned down even when willing to pay $25pp for the non-Haven guest.

I meant NCL themselves officially inviting non-Haven passengers to have a complimentary dinner in the Haven restaurant. See the invitation below that sid_9169 got on his recent Bliss trip from the hotel director.

That's correct. No Concierge would get in the way of this.

Whew, I dunno if I am paying thousands more for the Haven I think it would bother me that others are getting the perk for free without paying anything.

Yeah I was wondering what people thought about that too. A lot of Haven guests want the Haven to be exclusive to the Haven guests (and I don’t blame them), yet NCL is inviting non-Haven guests to the the restaurant.

I wouldn't bother me. I don't think it's done very often. What's 2 more people having dinner in the restaurant one night? It's not ever full, from all reports. It's not like they are taking up lounge chairs or space in the pool. I think it's a nice thing to do for a special customer once in awhile.

Make sure you are extra friendly to the concierge.  On one cruise we watched 4 non-Haven guests get priority boarding and disembarkation along with the Haven guests and access to the Haven lounge and courtyard.  This was due to their friendship with the concierge.  If you're so inclined tip the concierge well and make friends with him/her.

I'm reading this as "if you bribe the concierge, maybe you can get free perks."

I bet a complaint to the hotel director would clear that situation up quickly...

“on the down low”...interesting concept.

So you can break the rules since they don’t apply to you, because you’re “special”??

Oh no, not at all, rules do I apply to me and if I get caught I must suffer all the consequences for breaking the rules, I just hope I dont get caught, you gotta have a good plan.  Believe me even under the best of circumstances I would not want to dine with me either.
