There are several places where ships can dock.  If you are lucky, you may dock close to public transportation. Small ships have preference. When I was on Windstar, we walked off the ship and were able to walk to many interesting sites. When I docked on larger ships, there is free transportation to the center of town.  On one trip, we overnighted into Copenhagen. We took the shuttle bus to Tivoli where we enjoyed dinner and a show.  We were the only 2 people on the bus. Bus driver asked us if we had seen “the little mermaid”. It was our first time in Copenhagen and we hadn’t seen it. Bus driver said that everyone must see the mermaid. He diverted his route to take us to see the mermaid, got off the bus with us, took a picture, and off we went to Tivoli. People in Copenhagen are very nice. I have been back to Copenhagen many times. It is a very interesting city with lots to see. Enjoy!
