Appears on line bookings are closed, can I assume they hold seats open for walkins on a first come first sit basis?

They hold back a percentage of reservation slots for onboard booking.  Go to the box office (location in your boarding letter) to make reservations as soon as you board.

 

Failing that, there is a standby line which is let into the venue about 10 minutes before the show.

Download the Royal IQ app and you will be able to make reservations as soon as you board the ship.  You can go to the box office and make reservations, but the line is usually really long.  You can always get in line and register in the app as you are waiting.

That's exactly what we did for our last Anthem cruise which was booked very late, way after the final payment date and we saw the long line at the box office after we got on board. It was easily done on our iPhone while in line and completed well before we were even close to getting to the box office desks in the theater.
