Medallion- need to hand it over?

How often do you need to detach your medallion and hand it to staff? I have a great 3 foot expanding belt chain but no quick disconnect (yet)— so I order a beer at a bar, or on the ocean now app — can I complete the deal without unclipping?

Are there other times that one needs to detach? What about people with wrist bands?

As of last month the 3 foot retraction device was still OK. The bartenders were still using the cards and not the Medallions. As soon as they get rid of the cards the servers will have tablets for identification so there still wouldn't be any need to detach them.

If the Medallion works the way it should, there is no need to hand it to anyone.

You should be fine with your device. I used mine last month on CB.  At one bar I handed it to bartender; his scanning machine sat on the bar and you waved the medallion over the machine.  In gift shop you do same thing;  they have a scanning machine.
