Recommendations for day beach pass grand cayman

Can anyone recommend somewhere to go for a day at the beach please - we have done Nachi Cocom in Cozumel and have been spoilt and are looking for something similar.  Thanks. 😊

You won’t find that kind of setup in Cayman.  

 

The two most popular spots for cruise ship visitors are Royal Palms and Calico Jacks/Public Beach.  Those are both sections of Seven Mile Beach with good facilities, and you’ll find lots of info and reviews of both in this forum.

In GC, you really don't need a "resort" pass.  All of the beaches are public....and all of the entry points have chair/umbrella rentals.  You can do GC pretty easily on your own.  The bus will drop you anywhere you tell them to, along 7 Mile Beach.  So easy and inexpensive!  $2.50 pp!

Are there many entry points to Seven Mile Beach? On the map it looks as if it was resort after resort, and they look private properties. Besides Calico Jacks and Royal Palms are there any other access points where we can easily walk to the beach from the bus?

There are many public access points along the Seven Mile Beach corridor.  Most are just a pathway to the water from the road, likely in-between resorts or condos.  There are also spots like Governor's Beach and Cemetery Beach where there's a bit more actual beach area, but no facilities (restrooms, etc.)  for public use.

 

You can access the beach from anywhere, even through one of the hotels, but you won't have access to facilities except at spots like Calico Jacks (Public Beach) and Royal Palms where they are intentionally catering to cruise visitors.

We've headed down to the area by the Ritz Carlton before-- theres a little pool bar you can get into. The beach is full of their umbrellas which are reserved for their guests but the beach is technically public. 

 

The second time we were in port a couple years ago we didn't depart until 9pm so we took full advantage and got a room at the Ritz for the day which gave us full access to the property. We were able to use the pool and charge things back to the room. It ended up being north of $400 for the day (they gave us a small discount since we weren't staying the night) but we both agreed it was worth is given we had full run of the resort. I dont know if I would have done the same thing if we had to head back to the ship by 4pm though.
