Beach/Snorkel Day

My family and I are going to be docked in St. Thomas from 8am-6pm in June.  This is our longest time in a port.  Are there any recommendations on a snorkel trip with an extended time at a beach?  I don't want to use all of our time traveling back and forth.  Ideally, I would like a snorkel trip, go to a beach for food and drinks, then go back to the ship when it's time to board.  It seems like a lot of the excursions I'm finding only have a very limited time on the beach.  We have basically 8 hours if we need to be back on the ship 2 hrs before departure.  Would it best to take a short trip then quickly find a spot on the beach near the ship?  I'm still learning how all of this works.  Thanks!

Both would be lovely for my 14 year old son.  But mainly snorkel from a boat and have a beach day for my 10 year old daughter.

This might be your best option. This dive shop has a slip at a resort, Secret Harbor, that is on a beach with good snorkeling. They do 2 dives trips per day and let people who want to snorkel go out with the divers. You can hang out at the beach before or after the boat trip.
