Noro on Oasis of the Seas?

Recommended Posts

My daughter, son in law and their two daughters are leaving on Oasis of the Seas tomorrow.  They received an email that they will have later boarding due to the ship needing an extensive cleaning.  I can't find anything on the boards.  If anyone is on the ship or has a link so I can give them more info please let me know.  Thank you!

What information are you looking for?  Other than sending upcoming guests a heads up, they will NEVER call out that they have norovirus.  They only have to report it to the CDC if the % sick reaches a certain threshold.

Yes.  Even if you are on a ship when there is a small outbreak they won't say anything.  You will see crew members in bunny suits, and dishing out the food in the Windjammer

So, got the scoop from my mom (who got it at trivia from other guest "experts" so take it for what it is...and is not)...

330 cases of noro...cleaning everywhere last few days (and every 30 minutes on carousel)...

They didn't get sick, mostly b/c my brother's kids stopped going to kids club after day 2 (they didn't like it) and the "fun" pool after day 3 (b/c there was a poop incident the 1st 3 days, so they finally quit).  Still had a lot of fun, and a lot more b/c they came off totally well...

Wondering if the cleaning is related to the presence of spring breakers on board????  Big groups of college kids is a potential for big messes.

We were hugely populated with spring breakers on our Indy cruise and they pushed washing everywhere but no sign of additional cleaning and no more messes than usual on board thankfully, was a positive sail for sure!

Yep, Noro. Bosrding at 2pm.

Funny thing is this cruise is Laura's replacement for the January Noro cruise

John  I hope you have a non eventful  great cruise this time. We are on for April 7th but she will be in the yard at the Bahama Shipyard for five or so days in between so I imagine there will be total cleaning.  Bob     We will take care of Florida until you return.

Just left the Oasis this morning. Definitely norovirus on board. The cleaning started several days ago. Last night in the casino they even washed the chips after closing a table. Quite a process. Hope all is well this week.

We also left Oasis this morning. Without doubt another Noro outbreak.

as regular cruisers we started noticing something was different from day 2 onwards. More cleaning than usual, everywhere, constantly. By day 3 we had stumbled across a few “accidents” around the ship. By this time we saw cleaners in full body suits and space/face masks fumigating certain areas of the ship. As noted above we had letters in our cabins on the morning of Cozumel (day 5??). On the final day they left a questionnaire in every cabin asking to report if anyone in that cabin had symptoms so they could get accurate data of the scale of the outbreak.

Laura spoke with someone doing B2B. They were taking temperatures during the B2B process.  They were also given $30 credit, and bussed to Ron Jon's for lunch

Does Ron Jon's serve food?

Sheraton Four Points has a restaurant,  Sandbar and Captain J's are around the corner. Several places on 520 Causeway within 10 minute walk

We've been to Ron Jon's a couple of times and I thought we missed the restaurant.
