Found the flower market too and made a little purchase.

Recognize the bag 1of4?  Very handy for Flores 😉

Thanks for the live thread, Kazu. It seems like European meat markets are getting much more sterile looking. Where did all the plastic wrap come from? I blame the EU.

Every sail away the Prinsendam has some lovely appetizers.

They try to gear them to the port so I grabbed a pic of our sail a way appetizers from Ceuta :

Jacqui,

Where are they doing the appertizers? Based on the Deck and Chairs I see in the background, looks like the outside Pool Area.

Wonderful pics. Can't wait to join on the 24th.

The plastic wrap is only for packing the stuff up for you.

It makes life easier.

Meat is not in plastic. 😉

Now let’s see where I left off, but I hope you admire me tonight.

We had Gala night and were invited to the Captain’s quarters and dined with Bart (our HD).  He is relieving Renee for a few weeks and then returning to the Westerdam.

We have a bit of motion of the ocean but I still wore these (shoe porn):

image.thumb.jpg.601795d6caba0d6c4ffd1f9f800611ae.jpg

Can’t believe I did it.  Never tripped and sitting in the Crow’s Nest.  Thank heavens I don’t have to walk far here - LOL.

Back to our regularly schedule program.

Cartagena was getting ready for a procession and it was fun to watch:

We did want to hit the amphitheatre this time.  How many times have we been here and not gone?  So we forego the possible glimpse of the procession and do this instead.

the most beautiful building just across from the museum:

Since we had done the flower market - do you really think Kazu could resist buying flowers?  Security happily took them so they didn’t lay down, checked them and passed them back to me once I had passed through.

Now, how did you ever guess???

It’s not often you can find narrow shoes in Europe.

I asked if they were so popular why were they on sale (I had been eyeing them as they LOOKED narrow) and she said they were too narrow.

My eyes lit up and I said I would try them on 🙂

Thats what I meant. Lido pool deck area. Good to know. I don't remember those being there on our cruise last August.

Another Q. Where the appetizers listed on the W&W or did you just have to stumble across them?

Next day Barcelona but...

What is this messy picture?

Yes, it’s an attempt for a pic out of the train - we were ON THE TRAIN successfully and heading to Tarragona.

And we are at Tarragona.  Remember this is built on Roman ruins and look at the hills.

Here is the map of the ancient city.  We are about to explore it all

Stay tuned - I have probably too many pics so if I bore you just say the word.

This place is absolutely amazing - the history, and our guide was fantasttic.

I am not even sure if I could stand in those shoes, so I will share your experience vicariously.

They are gorgeous.

LOL -  I wasn’t sure I could either.  Haven’t worn heels like this in 10 years.

I managed.  LOVE the shoes and I am not a shoe person.

I did well all things considered.  We do have motion of the ocean 😉

We sang Send in the Clowns tonight.  Piano Bar Daniel needed a pocito of help,

I can’t believe I obliged. YIKES!

More tomorrow.  Hang on to your hats for Tarragona.

It might bore some and it might enchant others.

You have to “peel away the onion” as our guide said.

What an absolutely fantastic day.

tomorrow we are in Alghero and we are doing a Cultural food walking tour = the best of both worlds.

Early day so I best say Bon soir and I will try to catch up on Tarragona somehow.  Took way too many pictures.  Absolutely incredible.

The Roman ruins of Tarragona have 3 levels and while houses were built over them there is no denying the levels.  There is some climbing to be done.  Thankfully, as you saw, there is an escalator to get up the one level but going down is by stairs or the ramp.

This is the town hall

If you think buildings are in odd positions, it’s because they were built along the walls of what was the great circus here in Tarragona.

The circus here was larger than the one in Rome!  Amazing.

The Romans came here in 3 BC and took the little town from the Iberians.  They immediately built a military base.

Do you see the boulders at the bottom of the walls?  They extend over 3 metres below the floor you see here.  No one knows how the Romans were able to put the boulders in.  They are estimated to weight 2 - 3 tons!

This is what makes this a UNESCO site.  It’s the only Roman wall where this was done.
