Rare CruzerDeb Posted April 4, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2019 My first aft balcony cabin. We're cruising with friends and they wanted to go with aft balcony; otherwise, I probably would have chosen something in the middle. While I love looking at the wake, I'm a little concerned about engine noise and vibration.
May1cruiser Posted April 4, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2019 fascination was smooth as silk in January. We were towards the aft on the upper deck, but not fully in the stern
RumpunchGirl Posted April 5, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2019 I can't speak specifically about this ship, but I love the aft balconies. It's the only balcony I will book now. I'll be in the Aft on Fascination Jan. 2021, can't wait!

The noise starts about 45 minutes to 1 hour before docking (so it starts at about 5:45/6 am). You hear a lot of engine noises and the ropes pulling. I was honestly very surprised how loud it was. Even given the loudness I wouldn't have change it for the space and views.
evandbob Posted April 26, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 26, 2019 If you are worried about vibration, choose the highest deck available.

I never realized how much noise a WAKE could make until we cruised on Caribbean Princess, when I got around to the lowest stern deck I could access! It thundered like a waterfall, I kid you not. Your ship may differ! I used my Nikon D-90 to make a movie of the experience. It starts along the Stbd. edge of the stern, walks thru a narrow passageway and finally gets to the stern itself. You can hear the difference between mere wind-noise over the microphone and the roar of the wake itself. I hope your wake is not as noisy as this one - lol! .
beshears Posted April 26, 2019 #8 Share Posted April 26, 2019 We just got off the Fascination the 7th of April. I wrote a review under CC called: Checking out ports after 20 years. If you have any questions, other than about the balcony that I can answer, please feel free to ask.
