redhatters Posted April 10, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2019 Is it me or does this seem unfair. Cruise rate for passengers not flying into port is same rate as people coming into NYC from Dallas or other areas of the country flying free! Why????? Rare ColeThornton Posted April 10, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2019 Yes, it's just you. 😉 All perks are not created equal. It's just like when one class of cabins may get all five perks from the Free at Sea promos a different class may get only one, or even none. 1
redhatters Posted April 10, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted April 10, 2019 There is a substantial increase in the price of cruise on Gem Feb 14 2020 out of NYC since this past Jan/Feb season 2919. I believe that cruises which include free or reduced airfare are priced higher to cover this perk. THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH!

MamaLady76 Posted April 10, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2019 Totally just you! My bf doesn't drink alcohol. Should he be complaining about someone who gets the UBP as a perk paying the same price as he does?

The OP may live a drivable distance to a port paying the same $X inflated rate being charged to the passenger getting free airfare to come in from across the country. A later poster (#5) hit the nail on the head. Some "free perks" benefit some and some "free perks" benefit others. It's possible for some that none of those "free perks" benefit them. That's when knowing how to shed the "free perks" and get the uninflated fare without the gimmicks (without losing any flexibility of choice or refundability) is worthwhile. Yes, any of the touted "free perks" are anything but; the cost is buried in the fare somewhere.
