Miami Royal port, rental car shuttle question

We are arriving back on Symphony and want to rent a car for the day because we have a late flight from FLL. We have read that the Miami International Rental Car Center has a free shuttle from the port. Has anyone used this service? How early does it start? Where does it pick you up, right by the terminal? There are so many piers there now, does the shuttle go from one to another until full? We don’t want to wait around for an hour for the shuttle.....

The rental car shuttles circle the Port Of Miami until they have a full load of passengers for the short fifteen minute ride to the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center. Shuttle service begins around 6:30AM when your arriving ship is usually cleared by United States Customs and the first group of passengers begin to leave the ship. Alamo, National, Enterprise, Dollar and Thifty provide the free service. Some shuttle drivers will ask to see your car reservation paperwork before they allow you to board the shuttle. That is done because some cruise ship passengers are looking for free transportation back to MIA. Alamo, National and Enterprise share their shuttles and Dollar and Thifty share there’s. There’s normally plenty of shuttles servicing the Port Of Miami area and the wait time usually isn’t too bad.
