items left on the ship

Contact the cruise line Corporate and ask to report a lost item.  Give the ship name, sailing date, your name and stateroom number, and hopefully it was found on board and turned into Guest Services.  You never know - maybe it will be located and returned to you.  But call them and talk with someone - do not rely on an email.

OP: welcome to Cruise Critic, and I'm sorry this happened to you.  I hope that your iPad is found and returned to you.

Did you have the "Find my iPad'/iPhone" feature activated on your device?  Whether or not you did, if you haven't done so already, I recommend looking at Apple's checklist of what to do when you've lost your device:

I've never heard of Chargerback, but found it through a Google search:

For anyone reading this, I wanted to pass along a tip I read here on CC may years ago: order a set of these great, personalized ID labels (in various sizes) to stick on your electronics and similar portable valuables; if you lose something and someone honest finds it, there's a much greater chance it will be returned to you:

I have my name, cell phone number, and email address on my labels.

That's a great idea!

Your question was unclear, so here are two possibilities. If you left this in your cabin where steward would find it, odds are it would be turned in as found property. You should expect it's return after some hoop jumping. However if you "hid" it in the cabin or was in a black cover inside the safe or even left it in a public area, retrieval will be up to the honesty of whoever finds it.
