Drink packages

IIRC, last year it was the August promotion. We booked in late July, and the only promotion was an airfare discount, which we didn't use since we were going to use miles for our flights. And then the SSBP promotion came out a couple days later. Despite the fact that they initially said no way, our TA was able to convince Viking to add it to our booking. [emoji16]

Last year Viking offered a free drink package . The promotion was for a very limited time. How often does Viking offer this and does it come out a certain time of the year ?

The only thing that can be said with any certainty about the timing of Viking offers is that there is no pattern to the offers. There is no way of predicting how often or when a particular promotion will be offered. Just because it was done in the past does not even mean that an offer will be repeated.

How do you get on this list?

Go to Viking website. On upper right hand corner, click on contact. Fill out the form. Towards the bottom of the form there is a check box that says you want to receive special offers by e-mail, make sure it is checked. Submit information.

Also, in the same banner but on the left hand side, you can click where it says "special offers" to see what is currently on offer.

Great info. Thanks for the tip.

You can bring ANYTHING (legal) you want to drink onboard.  Viking will serve your own wine to you at dinner, etc. if you wish.  You could for example bring your bottle of whiskey to the bar area and ask for a glass with ice and that's fine too.
Soft drinks are free at lunch & dinner hours.  A charge outside of that time; just the same as with beer & wine.

Plus one other nice thing.  You can bring wine you have with dinner down to other places.  For example, at dinner we asked for a large pour refill of our wine glasses and then picked up and went down to the Star Theater to watch a Historian Lecture.
