Changing from 3rd person in cabin to own cabin with another person

My adult DD is sailing with us.  She is the 3rd person in our cabin.  The 3rd passenger free was not available when we booked, so 3rd person fare was paid.  She is now asking what would happen if a friend came along and they booked their own cabin.  We have already made final payment, so cancellation is not an option.  I don't want to call NCL yet because they won't commit to a change without knowing the costs involved.  The current fares and taxes are easy to determine, but there are a few questions.

What would NCL do in this situation?

Would they credit the third person fare to the new cabin for her?

We purchased an SDP package for her?  Would that transfer over or is just easiest cancel her current package and purchase it again?

Any other caveats?
