Forward facing ship balconies

We are booked in a forward facing suite on ncl in four weeks. I've always booked on the aft balconies. Does anyone have any experience with the usability of the balcony at sea.

We had a forward facing on the Sun, from Miami to Santiago, Chile.  Experienced both Caribbean and Pacific.  It was a little windy at times, but we had no issues using it.  Just make sure to lock the door when you are inside or you will have a nonstop whistling sound.  Enjoy the cruise!

Thanks for replying actually the suites on the back make sound too. Soot is a minor problem and drink cups and hats land on the balcony regularly.

No debris/cups/trash on the front end.  The view from the back is probably nicer though - in the front you will be looking down at the ship itself.  It was awesome for a Panama Canal sailing though!

Yes we were thinking the same thing. It's a vista view even tho the aft has a great view and my husband isn't particularly happy sometimes with a small back and forth motion. I'm used to it but this is a short trip and it might give us more options. The aft books up a year or so out.

That motion is felt in the aft of a ship -

forward the motion is apt to be up and down more noticeable with rough rogue seas.

The ships stabilizers smooth things out -

the larger the ship the less motion - but watch out for piano concertos and dancing furniture in hurricane weather.

 

True the higher deck aft balconies are booked way in advance
