What's up with luggage tags?

This is baloney.

The "corner cutting" paper tags don't need any specialized protection at all.

Aside from ripping, water is another thing that can happen to paper tags and another reason why I like the tag holders, or even just going over it with lamination or clear packing tape.

I did not have luck finding holders for Viking tags on Amazon but will search again.

Are you able to print one of your tags now? If so, you could print it out and measure it. If the listings for the Amazon sleeves don't specifically say they fit certain cruise lines, then many of them (if not all) do list the sleeve's measurements.

No, not yet.  I understand our packet will come from Viking about 3 weeks prior to sailing.

  • 2 weeks later...

We've kind of done it all with luggage tags.  In the past you always got them in the mail; they were really nice many years ago, less so now.  A few cruise lines will still send you tags; you may have to ask for them.

For years I have printed off the luggage tags and reinforced them with tape or laminate, then attached them once at the port (in our hotel room) with either scotch tape or a small stapler.  Your hotel may staple them for you.

Twice, including 3 weeks ago, I forgot the luggage tags.  At the dock the luggage handlers filled the missing tags out in about 30 seconds.  It was so easy I'm tempted to do that always!

What really hurts is that I had bought a complete seat of the 'nice' plastic holders for the first time.  Then left them in a suitcase we were leaving at home!

I'll check Amazon for the sleeves.

Can I recommend taking a look at Ali Express as well? I was looking for luggage sleeves on Amazon and they were roughly $10 for four and they were $1.21 each on Ali Express.

From what I've read, Viking tags will fit in the same sized holder as Carnival, MSC, Princess, Norwegian, HA, Costa and a few others.

Holders essentially come in two types that I've seen; the shorter, wider one for all the cruise lines above, and the taller, skinny one for RC and Celebrity.
