Rare Deafcruise Posted May 5, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2019 Hi, We are looking for a cruise which has a private area or pool that can only be accessed by certain stateroom booking, if that makes sense. I think Cunard has something for grills passengers - just wondering if any other cruise liners have the same? We just don’t want to battle for space with others and are willing to pay extra costs to have a separate area. many thanks Jeff

Celebrity has designed a new class of ship that allocates about 18% of it's space, called The Retreat, to just 10% of it's passengers. They have eliminated public areas that were on their older ships that everyone could use and used the equivalent space for exclusive use by suite only guests. These include an exclusive lounge, restaurant, private deck, pool, bar, and reception area. They are also remodeling their older ships by removing some public areas and converting them to The Retreat for suite guests. It is this way on the Bliss anyway. I understand that doesn't apply to the OP but it's worth noting.
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted May 7, 2019 #7 Share Posted May 7, 2019 Princess has the Sanctuary. Not restricted to any type of stateroom but it does cost extra and must be booked in advance. On some ships you can book cabanas or sunloungers, on other ships you can only book sunloungers. Very peaceful and if you're there in the afternoon you get afternoon tea served to your sunlounger. It is very popular in some regions so you need to go straight up to the Sanctuary after embarking to book.
beachbum53 Posted May 7, 2019 #8 Share Posted May 7, 2019 Carnival's newest ships, the Vista and the Horizon, have such an area, called the Havana staterooms. Their next ship, the Mardi Gras, currently under construction, will also have a separate area for specific cabins.
MCC retired Posted May 7, 2019 #9 Share Posted May 7, 2019 The return of the Class's on ocean voyages years ago . If you wish to pay for it you can avoid most of the crowds on todays Mega-ships.
Rare MicCanberra Posted May 8, 2019 #10 Share Posted May 8, 2019 On most mass market lines suites have exclusive areas, in addition I have found that unless invited, nobody comes into your cabin except the cleaners.

Also check out Carnivals new havana cabins. They are on two ships. But they have their own lounge/pool area just for those cabins.
