taxi to St James DIY snorkel still allowed?

10+ years ago, we took a taxi to St James Resort and used the beach (Hawksbill Bay) right before the gated entrance to DIY snorkel for a few hours. Is this still allowed? Has anyone been to that beach recently?

Also, any other recommendations for shore snorkeling from another beach?

Would not intrude on St James guest's facilities without paying

Beach Snorkelling - Both can be hit/miss

Top end of Half Moon Bay

Gallions Beach about 80/100 yards out

The beach is public, I believe. We did not use any StJ facilities. This is at the very entrance to the resort with at least 1/2 the cove/beach spanning the area prior to the gate. I am also looking at Galleon. thank you.
